Nice hood only if it worked!!!

After a long research, my wife bought this hood despite my warning about the damper problem that I learned from my own research.
The hood is nice design, powerful fan, good lighting, simple to use ... poor quality vent damper. Yes, the damper hinges are made from the same soft aluminum sheet that failed after a year or so of usage. Luckily, it escaped the fan when falling down otherwise the motor and case would be further damaged. It cost a lot to put it and now it would cost a lot more to repair due to the location.
I've had many GE Profile appliances before but I'm now thinking about something else. For this hood, I'll probably yank it out and replace with a different brand because I will have to face the same problem maybe another year from now.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Looks fantastic - is REALLY loud

Did an entire kitchen remodel and purchased this line. So far so good!
This hood is gorgeous. It is REALLY loud though (like jet engine loud), when you get it turned on, especially on high. Forget about holding a conversation or hearing anyone or anything. I don't really mind that because I don't use it often and when I do, no one is around to talk to me anyway.
I would recommend this to a friend!

We purchased this hood as part of a complete kitchen makeover and it is just a perfect compliment to the other GE profile products that now outfit our new kitchen. The operational features are very nice too. We are so happy we were able to fir this unit into our design.
