Love everything about it!

Already having a GE Profile gas range and under counter oven, we knew GE quality to be excellent. When shopping for an island range hood, we naturally looked at GE Profile as well as other brands. After reading reviews on this hood, some stating the fan was noisy, and it seemed very large and complicated to install, we had concerns, but knowing GE quality, we purchased it anyway and found none of that to be true. The fan is quiet and installation was easy. We would definitely purchase it again.

Beautiful light and strong vent

The light from this vent is very subtle and it has a strong vent capability. It is a bit noisy when on high but it works well!

Excellent hood but needs modification.

The hood and lights seem to perform quite well, however it hangs very low (due to 8' ceiling). Is there a kit or modification available that would raise the hood by several inches? It presents a hazard.

Nice style, poor installation instructions

Pro:
- stylish design, quality stainless steel, modern aesthetic
- strong fan, however 4th speed (BOOST) remains on only temporarily for a couple minutes before kicking back down to 3rd speed...this is not mentioned anywhere in literature
Cons:
- My parts packet was missing leveling screws (shimmed ceiling support instead)
- 4 LED lighting only has 2 fixed settings...high and low. Would definitely prefer adjustable dimming knob to select high/low and everything in between
- LED Kelvin level is fixed, you cannot choose warmer settings (2700K - 3500K etc)...there should be an internal switch to allow 4-5 settings like most LED fixtures sold
- To replace LED bulbs (if one burns out for example) the literature states "LED lights lights are replaceable by a service technician only...see Owners Manual for service contact information." Why? Well because one needs to remove 12 screws in order to drop the bottom panel and expose the bulb wiring harness. This reflects poor engineering and foresight, leading to unnecessary and costly service calls. Each bulb should be accessible by perhaps unscrewing individual lens covers and simply replacing the bulb. Or something similar.
- Installation instructions are poor and the illustrations are lacking.
a. This is an ISLAND RANGE HOOD yet the directions state in a few areas the "These vent hoods are designed to be installed onto a wall with no above cabinets." and "This hood must be installed onto a wall." Clearly this verbiage belongs in another manual, and is boilerplate apparently.
b. Steps 3 through 7 are poorly written and illustrated. For example, there is not reference to ceiling height and desired clearances when attaching the lower vertical supports to the lower horizontal supports. Step 6 illustration only shows the lower assembly when it should actually show both lower and upper attached to the ceiling.
c. 8" duct illustrations and installation steps are omitted from all the steps except #10. Would be helpful if this were detailed.
d. In my application the ceiling height was 97" so I did not use the upper duct covers (vented), because doing so would have resulted in the vent hood installation height of only 24" above the cooktop (Table PV977, page12). This was unacceptably low. I used the lower vertical supports only, and cut/drilled them as required to fit. Obviously this was a modification from the instructions, but based on what I've seen on YouTube, I'm not the only one to face this issue. Maybe a reference to "modify for your application" would have been a welcome instruction.
