Simply the best

Being from the UK I have always used a front loader and have been waiting ages for my top loader here in the US to die on me. It did and I did a lot of searching for a good quality, easy to use and economical washer.
This LG is the tops. I have had it 4 months and cannot complain at all. Some reviewers complain the cycles take too long. That may be so but it uses less water and less drying time as the clothes are not as wet when they go into the dryer. I have also noticed the lint in the dryer is less, therefore your clothes will last longer.
I recently washed a king size comforter with no problem, because the drum capacity is huge. I have also cut down my wash days as this takes a much bigger washload, compared to the old top loader.
My only complaint is the door - it either swings fully open or you have to keep closing it so as not to keep walking into it. If my wshroom is like most people's you can't swing a cat in it.So the door is closed after use. SO FAR I haven't got that mouldy, musty smell and I haven't had to use the tub clean feature yet.
I have also noticed there is no water collecting in the door gasket, which most probably helps.
If anyone reads this and is in the market for a new washer, PLEASE look at this model - It's really does the job.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality, large capacity

Good, but with some reservations

Generally, I will not buy a front load washer again, EVER. It has nothing to do with LG and the brand, but the method of washing in itself does not excite me. Why? After using top load for years, I thought I was getting a good technology and "new" way of washing. Not. It takes foreever to get anything done and it does not do any better than the top loads. Of course the price of both types (top vs. front) of loads nudging close to the same so definitely, price is not a major consideration here. LG is a good brand. It does the job well so don't get me wrong. Only fly in the ointment with this particular model - you have to remove the soap dispenser and wash it under tap water otherwise, it gets water logged. Poor design in my estimation. Removal of the tray is not that easy. One have to remove pump filter once a month (assuming 4 loads a month) and clean it. You have to keep the door gaskets clean. Wipe it thoroughly otherwise it will smell. One has to keep the door OPEN overnight after washing to completely dry it out. Wish this model had a delayed start, a soak and hold cycle. It is not there. So, stay away from ALL front load washing methods. Again, LG or no LG, all front loads have this deficiency. BUT, if you still insist on buying a front load, buy an LG. It is quiet, aesthetically pleasing. Good Luck.
One more thing: Don't think you are saving money with less water usage. Yes, you are saving water. But the savings are eaten up in electricity costs when it takes so long to finish the wash. So, it is 6 of one 1/2 doz. of the other. Don't get dazzled by that sales pitch.
Pros: Style/Design, quiet, buy it for looks, value
Cons: Features/Settings
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Really Nice

Too soon to determine the strengths and weaknesses, having only received this gem yesterday. We searched long and hard yet decided largely on the success of a previous LG refrigerator LRSC26912TT that's been great in every way. The washer is beautiful, quiet.

Inappropriate for less than large loads
on October 21, 2010

The reason I purchased this machine was because it was better for the environment. I was not told that it would be inappropriate for medium size loads. We are a retired couple. I do 5/6 washer loads a week. My washer loads are frequently out of balance and the clothes do not get clean unless I do a lot of pre-hand washing. When unbalanced the washer spews soapy water out the back wetting my wall, baseboard and floor. I do not want to wash dark clothes with light colored clothes. I need to bleach underwear, white socks, kitchen towels but I always need to throw in a few large white towels which do not need to be cleaned in order to keep the machine balanced. Three pairs of jeans along with 6 or 7 tee shirts, three sport shirts and ten pairs of socks throws the machine out of balance. I never put in less than 2/3 of a drum full of clothes yet I am told by the service person that I am not putting in enough clothes to balance the machine properly. When I add towels to the colored wash filling the drum, it stays balanced but the clothes come out wrinkled from over crowding. I have been using a laundromat for 45 years and have never had this problem. I am very dissatisfied with my purchase.
Pros: Style/Design
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I fell in love with laundry
on October 29, 2011

I hated laundry. We moved to a new house and there was only room for a stack-able washer and dryer. So we had to go buy a new one. I wasn't too excited about this purchase, but I needed to clean clothes. We searched for a washer/dryer combo with good reviews and that was inexpensive. LG hit both categories. It wasn't until I got them into my house though that I discovered what an awesome buy I had made. The first thing that caught my attention was the cheery little ring that it made to greet you or tell you that laundry was done. This alone was far better than the dreaded blaring beep. But as I began to use the washer and dryer, I discovered so many great features that really allowed me to tailor what I needed to accomplish with my laundry. How dirty was it, how soon did I need it, did it need special care or extra spinning? There was an answer for every issue that might arise in laundry. I actually look forward to laundry now. What a difference in my life!
Pros: Performance, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality, the ringer at the end of the cycle

Great washer

This is a great washer. I had been wanting a washer like this for a very long time and when our top load washer finally died I bought this and I wasn't disappointed. The only thing that could be better is the end of cycle signal could be louder.
Pros: Quality, Features/Settings, easy to use, Performance, Style/Design
