The need to empty the drain and clean the filter is very awkward and inconvenient. To do this work requires that one be on hands and knees on the floor. Not to mention, that is hard to remember this needs to be done a couple of times a month.
Pros: easy to use, Quality
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love my LG front load washer and dryer. Our clothes are cleaner than they have ever been and at a faster time! They are so easy to use, the capacity is great and I love the speed at which they dry! Washing clothes has never been more fun!! If you overload the washer with towels, it will leak some water. Less is best.
Pros: Performance, easy to use, Quality
I would recommend this to a friend!

We purchased this washer a little less than a year ago. We Love it. Knock on wood, we have had no issues so far and it does a great job of cleaning. The price was the lowest of the front load washers but is defintely worth the additional cost over the top loads. We love it.
Pros: Performance, easy to use, Quality
I would recommend this to a friend!

Has been a great machine

I have had this and it's dryer for almost 5 years. The TrueBalance works great. I may hear 3 to 5 bumps when it gets out of balance, which is not frequent at all, but it balances itself out in just seconds. I only use 2 tbsp. of soap and my clothes come out CLEAN. I sell appliances and this has been a good one for me and my customers. The new machines are even better with more user features. I wish I had one of the models that uses steam. They even get better results from what I hear from my customers.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality

Worst washer and dryer I ever purchased

I bought an LG washer and dryer in 2015 and had nothing but problems. The washer leaked and the dryer malfunctioned (continually shut down after 10 minutes). I had multiple service calls on each which were largely ineffective. Out of 4 service professionals that came to fix the units only one seemed to know what he was doing. I like LG TVs but would never buy another LG appliance other than a TV or sound system.
Pros: Style/Design
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good Product Great Value

We purchased an LG model WM2101HW washer in June of 2009. The machine does a fantastic job of cleaning clothes and has many features that help get it done right. We definitely recommend this model to anyone who plans to purchase a new washer.
One characteristic of this machine we found a little annoying is noise. This machine uses just a little more water than required to soak a full load of clothes in the "Normal" mode of operation. Consequently, during the wash cycle, the wet clothes slap the sides of the tub as they tumble. This causes a low level noise that sounds a bit like rocks grinding.
We were concerned about this situation and LG sent out a service person under warranty to make certain the machine was working properly. He assured us that the noise was normal for this machine. He indicated that the air vent at the top of the machine allowed the noise to bounce off the walls of our utility room and become somewhat amplified.
In all other modes, this machine is less noisy than other machines we have owned before. We are otherwise very pleased with all aspects of the LG WM2101HW

We bought this model to replace our old LG front load. The old one was only 3 years old, but had horrible issues with uneven loads. This model has the True Balance technology that supposedly addresses the problem the old machines had. Has it worked? Well, we've had the new one for two days and already have had two uneven loads. That means I must unload a sopping wet load, run the rinse & spin cycle, then try to arrange the wet load in a balanced manner back into the machine, set to wash and cross the fingers. I want to love this machine. It looks good and functions great - when not uneven. But the uneven load problem continues to be a thorn in my side.
Pros: Quality, Features/Settings, Style/Design
Cons: Difficult to use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Will NOT clean your clothes!

We bought this washer in 2009 and this is my first review. You really need to use the product for a year or so before you REALLY know the product! Everytime I wash, large load and small loads, they smell sour. Yes, I clean the washer monthly but still have to wash my clothes at least 2 times before the smell clean. The washer only puts about 2 cups of water in the tub, at the most! Your clothes can not be clean if the are not in soapy water!!
