QUIET & EFFICIENT

So quiet and easy to set. Very little vibration, even though I am in a trailer house. Did put 3/4 inch plywood on the floor before installing the washer - advise of local retailer.
Love this - clothes are clean, very quiet - hardly know it is running.
Cannot leave door open as was suggested so that the wash does not get musty smelling. The door swings all the way open, blocking the doorway of my laundry room.
Pros: easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!

No small wash loads

Just bought this w/d combo - am over-all happy except for a few things - cannot easily do small loads. I tend to do more small delicate loads and I keep coming downstairs to find the machine has shut down and I don't know where in the cycle it shut down. Sometimes I see the UE for uneven loads but still don't know if clothes have been washed or rinsed. Also can't hear the end of cycle from upstairs so have to keep track of the time on the dryer to get there before things wrinkle.
Pros: Style/Design
Cons: Features/Settings
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

no good

We have owned this machine for almost a year and I hate it. You can't wash sheets or towels without it getting an error, you have to open the machine up and water goes everywhere, rearange your stuff and hope it will work, the second time. It has taken 3 hours to do a small load of towels. Forget putting bed pads ( I have small children) it will try to spin all day! We have also had numerous occations where the washing machine leaked, good thing it is in my basement. I would never recommend this to a friend. I so wish I had never spent the money on this lousy machine that I am now stuck with.
Pros: no good features

if detergent mfg get their act together

Great machine. Replaced 16 year old top loader which still works. This unit is quieter and has many choices of laundry loads/soil level/spin cycle combinations. The finish melody is a welcome change from the old style buzzer, and it can be muted also. Since the front loader has higher spin speeds it spins out more water from the clothes rducing drying times almost 60%. This is where your real energy savings occur, in the drying cycle. Even with extra rinse cycle my prefered wash cycle was only 20 minutes longer, 45 minutes increasing to about 65 minutes.
Some drawbacks in the low water usage is that the detergent manufacturers still need to refine the rinse out feature of HE detergent. Clothes can come out really clean but if you are sensitive to detergent left on the clothes the extra time spent for additional rinse cycles and water will leave you questioning the reasoning in buying the front loader. Finding a usable detergent will be a trial and error method of reducing recommended amounts, water temps, using the water sense sensor, and extra rinse cycles. For me, the included sample of Tide HE liqud cleaned well but rinsed out poorly, but not as poorly as the Tide HE powder. I ran my initial loads of laundry with no detergent at all to clean out old standard residual detergent, twice, before testing Tide HE detergents. I wound up tossing the powder after 16 loads. If you have pets and launder some pet items that have even short pet hair be prepared find very little pet hair removed when you pull your items from the washer. Not much will be rinsed away. You will have to shake them out prior to washing or let your dryer do the job in the lint trap. Do not worry about clogging the built in water filter with pet hair, if it is smaller a single pea it will pass through easily.
The LG manual is lacking in describing features and how they work. You are left with a lot of trial and error testing. Do dilute your fabric softner as it is added to the wash with minimal water and a full strength dose may dispense on one item and not rinse out and disperse due the low water use. I had a white shirt come out the color of the fabric softner because it was the first item to be hit with the softner. It did not rinse out and disperse due to lack of water.
Overall, once the learning curve was done. Washes well, but choose your detergent well. Dilute your fabric softner. The manual is good for showing you where the door is and where to put the clother in, little else. Higher spin speeds means less drying time.
Pros: Performance, Features/Settings, Quality

save a lot

We bought this washer because we wanted to save water and electricity. We had been told that it was a good machine. We do save water and the washer does a real good job of cleaning clothes. It also does not take as long to dry laundry in our dryer so we save on electricity.
We recommend LG to anyone looking for a good machine that saves! I also like the music when it starts and finishes.
