After much investigation, I chose the LG WM2101 washing machine (and matching dyrer). I have been absolutely satisfied with every aspect of its performance. The water savings alone is subsatantial. In the future, I will look to LG first.

My previous front loader (another brand), was a great washer, but I have really liked using this washer. I especially like the ease of use, the number of selections offered, especially the extra rinse. I like the sturdiness of the machine and most of all I like the musical beginnings and endings, no more cranky. loud buzzers!
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality, the musical ending warnings instead of a buzzer

Very good front-load

Decided to buy LG after checking Consumer Reports for reliability ratings. The WM2101HW scored decently in the ratings. It has been rock solid for the first few months at least. Took a few loads to balance the feet properly but now that it's set, there is very little vibration and the washer does not move around even at extra high spin settings. Make sure you leave the door open after a load, and wipe the grey rubber seal with a towel so you don't have mildew growth (I think this is recommended for all front-loaders).
If there is a downside, it's that the controls are made of plastic and the detergent loading drawer feels flimsy, but this seemed to be the case with almost every washer I tried out at the store.
Everything else is great, very easy to use, and it wrings out the moisture very well.

Best we ever had

We purchased this machine along with the matching dryer last October on a recommondation from friends and staff at the location I purchased from. To start it was priced lower then any other front load, and it is direct drive. It is very queit while washing and does a great job of cleaning. I have at times washed with only a small amount of fabric softner, no soap, and it came out great. The gentle cycle works great for what we need it for. The samitairy cycle works great for getting the white extra clean without the use of bleach. If we wait a full week or more to do laundry, we may have one load of whites, one load of towels (towel mode wrks great also) one load of jeans and then one load of the rest of the colored clothes. Other people in this complex think something is wrong when they have 2 people in the unit and their electric and water bill is higher then ours. I keep telling them, energy saving lights, water conserving shower heads, and water and power efficient washer and dryer. From what I hear on average our water bill is $30-$60 less then everyone else. If I ever have to by another washer or dryer it will be made by LG and it may be one of the higher end models with more features and a larger tube to clean in. Keep up the great quality LG! We did get the pedastals to put under the machines. I had back surgery and have been out of work for almost 5 years and have trouble bending over at times. No problems at all loading the washer, moving to the dryer or getting everything out of the dryer. If you need a new washer and want quality without paying top dollar, this is the one to pick. If you really want to know how good it cleans. I get plenty of grease and oil on my clothes when working on my truck or cars wife. And being an outdoors type, I get blood and other things on my clothing also. This machine gets it all out.

Not only is this washer easy to use but its intuitive. It seems to analyze whats loaded and wash it correctly. It self adjust time, water and rinse needs and ring out to reduce drying time. We are really pleased. It doesn't eat up your clothes like some of the top loads do.
