Abysmal wireless performance
on August 27, 2009

The primary reason to purchase this instead of the BD370 is the built-in WiFi. Save your money unless your router is in the same room. WiFi on this unit is provided by an integrated module hiding behind the front panel between the disc tray and the time display. The antennae are mere fragments of printed circuit at the edge of the module's tiny circuit board. Reception is about half of what it could be -- comparing directly to a different network video player I have in approximately the same location.

Still buggy!

BD video is very good, but still has occasional flickering for some frames. Picture slideshow playback is very poor if you have many pictures on the USB memory or from the network drive. Picture slideshow also shows most pictures in pink & green if the pictures have been processed through Adobe Photoshop Elements. This device does not play back .mov 720p HD clips recorded by the Canon T1i DLSR cam. Wireless remote is too simple and looks/feels cheap, short range. I expected better remote for this LG's top-of-the-line BD model.
Overall, this unit is still very buggy and not worth the high priced tag.
Pros: Quality
Cons: Value, Features/Settings, Difficult to use, poor/buggy picture slideshow

Poor Quality

I bought this player expecting I would get good Bluray and DVD performance be able to watch Netflix.
I have been severely disappointed in its performance on regular DVD discs. They don't upscale very cleanly at all and end up looking worse than an inexpensive DVD player. After only about four months the player now won't play regular DVDs at all even though it will still play Bluray discs and Netflix.
Overall, a very disappointing purchase. For the money the player should be of higher quality.

Terrific LG BD390
on December 15, 2009

I just purchased the LG BD390 Blu Ray Disk Player for my home. I was amazed at how easy it was to hook up to my wireless home network. I also have used VUDU and found it an excellent alternative to my local video store. The only confusing part of the setup was adjusting the 5.1 speaker system. I could never get the surround speakers or the subwoofer to work. However when playing my first Blu Ray Disk, the sound was terrific through my Receiver.
Pros: Quality, Features/Settings, easy to use, Performance, Style/Design

Quite a Surprise
on February 27, 2010

What a surprise I got when I first accessed the BD390 on my WIFI network. The unit instantly joined the wireless network (after giving it the SSID and the WPA security code) and displayed all the shared files on all three of my computers. Movies that I previously could only watch by burning a DVD were now available immediatelly after download in their original .avi format. The movies play seamlessly on my TV and the picture and sound qualities are excellent. Because I'm a Netflix member, I can also get streamed movies from them instantly on my TV via the BD390. This player is so full of features that I rarely use it to play a DVD. I have tested it though, and it performs beautifully. I am very pleased with the BD390 and can't say enough good things about it. I would heartily recommend it to anyone who wants to add to the enjoyment of their TV and home WIFI network.

Works well
on October 30, 2009

The player works very well, the features are nice, but I wonder why the power button is above the DVD tray and the Eject button is on the opposite corner. The gray on black writing on the remote is nearly impossible to read, for which there is no excuse. White on black, or black on white. It is a utlitarian device; don't try to hide its functions!
Pros: Quality, Features/Settings, Performance
Cons: Difficult to use

Best Blue Ray
on December 24, 2009

I spent several weeks going over reviews of blue ray players with wireless capability. I finally narrowed it down to the BD390. Took less than 5 minutes to set up and connect to my wireless router and sync up to my laptop. Streaming of movies is smooth. Excellent picture quality. If you're looking for a wireless blue ray, I would highly recommend. Cannot beat the price and quality

Great Player

This is an excellent blu ray, dvd/cd player. The instructions are very forthright and this player offers a direct link (via fiber optical cable) to your receiver for 5.1 ofr 7.1 surround sound (digital). It also has 7.1 analog hookup if you prefer (rca cable) hookup. Sound quality is superb. The wireless link to Netflix is very easy since the book gives step by step instructions. Once you drop in a blu ray and that first picture hits you--you'll be blown away. I've been an audio/video phile all my life and this is a superb product.
