I wanted a blu-ray player that would play videos from my home network. I also wanted the option of Netflix. The player plays disks almost flawlessly - very rarely will you get an error.
The home networking works, but with divx files over your network, audio and video are out of sync. It can read an external drive, but has some problems with lots of files and folders.
The Vudu service has been kind of nice upon occasion, too. It's a bit less expensive than renting a movie off of my cable box. YouTube is clunky, but useable.
Like I said, not perfect, but at the time (spring 2009) it was the best out there.
Pros: Features/Settings, plays h.264 mkv mp4, vudu, networking works
Cons: Difficult to use, Value, rough around the edges

Excellent blu-ray player with great features (802.11n, netflix, youtube, netcast, vudu). Nice and quiet. Very sleek, looks great.

We really can't complain about this player. We have owned it since November 2009. We love the extra features especially the ability to play Netflix movies from our instant queue, YouTube, and the fact that we can access our own media from our computers. We have not used the other features yet. We have had some wireless network connection issues with the player, but we're not sure if it's the player or the router. There has been no issues with the wired connection. If there was a way to upgrade the software to allow the player to use additional programs like Pandora that would be even better. I can't imagine it not being purely a software issue in order for it to work and buying a new player just for a couple more features like that just isn't going to happen at the moment. Overall this has been a great player. We haven't run into any issues with discs not working and loading times are certainly longer than DVD, but at the moment that's something that just must be dealt with.

Nice picture. Great streaming. Love the firmware update feature. I wish all my home audio and video equirement had that feature.

Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase. I would have given it 5 stars, but the wireless signal strength is weak. I upgraded by router to the n standard hoping this would improve signal strength. It improved on everything else, except the LG player.

This Blu Ray player works great, was easy to install, and now at 2 years, has never given me any problems. If I needed another, I would definitely by LG again.
