I purchased this for viewing movies on my family room set. I wanted to also view pictures stored on the computers on my home network. My initial thoughts were to try the wireless option, but I also thought I would have to eventually run a network cable for acceptable network use. To my surprise the wireless network connection works very well for my wife and I. I am using an N+ router with a directional antenna, so this probably helps with my network speed. The You Tube feature also works quite well and I am able to view videos my son has uploaded. I am extremely satisfied.
Pros: Performance, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality
I would recommend this to a friend!

BD 390

The LG BD 390 is an excellent Blu-Ray player. I've been very happy with my choice from the beginning. The biggest surprise was how well it handles external media servers. I've connected both TVersity and the media server that's built into my Linksys router to the BD 390 and it works like a champ! With TVersity, I'm able to stream the stuff that otherwise isn't available in the built-in options (like Hulu, for example), so the limitations of the player and for the most part, negated. In addition, I can set it up to stream my favorite pod-casts, so the player becomes my 'one-stop' for nearly all of my media.
Another thing that really impressed me was how it remembers where I stopped playing a DVD or Blu-Ray disk, even if I've removed the disk, played another movie and then re-inserted the original disk! This is beautiful, and it works quite well.
For the most part, navigation through the menus and such is pretty good and intuitive. Software updates aren't real intrusive and don't take very long to perform. Upconverting of DVDs is superb - they look amazing; even the ones that are 'shrunk' from 9gb dual layer to 4.7gb single layer. The Blu-Ray of Avatar was breath-taking on this player!
My one big beef is with the remote control. It is (in my opinion) very poorly laid out. It's so non-intuitive, that even after nearly 2 months, I constantly have to look at it to figure out which button to press or more frequently, which one I accidentally pressed. Also, as near as I can tell, there is no way to configure the built-in volume control to connect to an A/V receiver - only televisions. Finally, it's missing the ability to frame-step backwards! What's up with that? You can frame forwards, if you wish, but you can't go back one frame at a time. I am hoping that this is a remote control limitation and not a player limitation. I'm considering moving to a programmable remote and hoping I can find a way to make frame-back function.
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. LG has done a nice job of delivering a beautiful product with a nice feature set.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality, media server accessibility
Cons: remote control

First Blu-Ray

In short, the player is AWESOME! We bought this in December 2009. It is our first blu-ray and we are astounded. It is easy to setup and use. I bought it for the wireless capabilities, You Tube, and Netflix options. Wasn't a Netflix member, but I am now. Other people use Pandora and other movie sites, but I am more than happy for my first purchase. It was a little pricey, but I'm sure it will come down as technology surely increases. Well worth the price!!
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality, wireless lan, netflix you tube etc
Cons: price

I purchased the BD390 about 3 months ago, and have been very satisfied with it. I especially enjoy the ability to watch Netflix movies and You Tube videos over the wireless connection.

Worst Purchase Ever

i had this blue ray player for approximately 5 months and it stop recognizing that there was a DVD in the drawer. I updated the software each time this happend. Sometimes it would work and most of the time it would not. Maybe I should have bought an extended warranty on this machine, but I didn't. i called to see if the 1 year warranty would work and it only covers parts, not labor. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE.
Cons: Value, poor quality, poor lg service
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I've had this player for over six months with no problems. Last night I tried watching Avatar, blu ray version and get "error". Tried same disc on PC and it plays fine. It will play the regular DVD version. Now this player is discontinued and no firmware updates to take care of the problem. Not happy !
Pros: Performance, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality
