Solid performer

I purchased the BD390 BluRay player in December 2009 to mate with a new LG 47LH90 LED television. I had taken time to read reviews of the current crop of BD players and selected this model because of its wireless capabilities and superior picture. I was not disappointed except for the wireless reception. I am not sure if it was the location of my wireless modem or the BD390 player, but the wireless signal at the receiver was of medium strength and I had trouble downloading. However once I moved my router and directly connected it to the player, all the problems disappeared! It updates its firmware automatically so I don't have any compatibility issues to deal with. The only complaint I have is that it is extremely slow in loading and displaying large resolution JPG photos via the USB port. It takes a long time to render the images. If I plug the same USB stick into my 47LH90 LED TV, the photos pop right up and I can run a slide show without delays. But this is not in any way a deal killer for me, and I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a BD player.

BD390 makes life good!

This Blueray is the best value for your money. I had used BD300 and comparatively, BD390 loads faster, supports Youtube, netcasting, vudu , Cinemax and of course, Netflix the best streaming service available. Quality of the blueray picture is outstanding. It is light in weight hence very easy to move around. Due to smaller dimensions fits perfectly in my TV stand. It has wireless connectivity, so forget about ethernet cables.
Netcasting is one great feature to share your pictures and songs located on your PC. Also, it has USB access so you can connect an external harddrive too for pic and songs. Although, a video can only be seen through DVD/Blue ray.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality, netcasting, usb support, new software can be added online
Cons: can't play video through netcasting and usb

Purchased for movie buff wife about 5 months ago. Both the Blu Ray player and the wireless Net Flix streaming capability have been easy to use and have performed flawlessly.

Very good but not a star

I would like to open by saying that the BD390 is a very good unit. I am very pleased with the quality with the following exceptions. On occasion I have experienced video / audio synch problems. Also, the applications that come with it are merely a subset of the larger set available with all newer units. I was hoping the a firmware upgrade would make it compatible with the new versions. But, that has not happened. In particular I would like to see Pandora become available on the BD390. I have had to resort to connecting my laptop to my tv play Pandora. It really annoys me to see every other player out there have it along a a few additional applications. It's funny how all other units advertise "and more" but not the BD 390.

Even though I've not used ALL the features with my new LG BD390 Blu-Ray player, I'm amazed at the 'ease of use' this player brings. Everyone in my family is able to play DVDs and Blu-Rays easily and we've even used the YouTube option. The up-conversion of DVDs we've watched is incredible and when watching Blu-Ray movies or concerts, we are astonded at the clarity, deep blacks and colors of the picture and the surround sound qualities. It feels like the movie/concert is happening right in our living room. After reading about this player and LG LED-LCD 47" HD-tv combo, it was a 'no brainer' to purchase.

A Great Blu-Ray Player

I bought this Blu-Ray player because of its ability to play streaming content from Netflix, VUDU, etc. The wireless wasn't so good because of my network, but after setting up a wired network using powerline adapters it works exceptionally well. The quality of streaming HD content is crystal clear!

BD 390 Has it All

Thank you. Somebody finally got it right. Your BD390 product is sensational! I wanted to expand into direct viewing of Video movies via Netflix and what I got was more than I expected. The integration into Netflix is flawless. I also installed a Wireless N router about 2 weeks before I installed the BD390. The install of the DVD machine was a breeze with the assist facilities in both. The ability to get to my music libraries, my pictures and YouTube was a real bonus. I was up and running within 15 minutes of the hardware install.
My wife was skeptical of what I was trying to do and could not comprehend it, now she has asked me to teach it her so she can do it on her own

Great for Geeks

As a digital media junie, this is by far my favorite machine. Compared with other BluRay players I've used, it very quickly loads disks. I haven't used the NetFlix or other similar features.
It has played just about everything I've thrown at it. It handles AVI and MKV container formats, MP3 and AAC, etc. The USB port supports both FAT and NTFS formatted drives. As with all players with USB ports, it doesn't support things like iPod or iPhone that require software to interface.
The wireless was a bit tricky to configure. It appeared that it would only accept lower case letters for what should have been a hex WEP key. To resolve, I had to change my wifi router to use ASCII characters for the WEP key, then all went well.
It is a bit touchy with AVI or MKV files with bad / illegal frames. When it hits the bad frames, it appears to just jump to the next track without trying to error-correct. You can manually get around this by forwarding past the bad frames then playing. I wish it had a better error recovery scheme to automatically skip a few frames retry / resynch.
Besides the above minor glitches, this is a great machine.
