I did not just purchase my Canon multi printer, I reinstalled it on a new computer. If I were to purchase a new printer it most diffidently will be a Canon. I have found that the Canon multi printer is the very best on the market. It does a very excellent job, is easy to use and holds up well with use. I have had my printer for several years and have used it to print on paper, card stock, and to do pictures. I have printed from my PC, copied, scanned, sent faxes, received faxes, have done it in black and white and color. It has never failed me to produce the best quality I expect.

This is the best printer I have ever purchased. It was easy to set up except for the slight problem I had with the firewall (just had to change some settings). The wi-fi is great. I have it on the network so I can print from any computer anywhere in the house. It is larger than I expected (had to clean off my desk), but the plus to that is that there is no shaking when it prints, like so many other multifunction printers. Bottom line: get it, you won't regret it.
Pros: durable, Easy Setup, easy to use, fast print speed, Low Ink Consumption, reliable, Sharp Tones & Colors
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

Great machine, superb printing, hard to set up wirelessly because the instructions skip all over the place instead of being together. I was unable to get it to function wirelessly and ended up connecting it ! Will contact tech support when I have more time. So far spent 4 hours trying to get wireless function to function! ultimately frustrated! Take a page from new hi-def TVs that virtuaslly set themselves up. I'm off to get a martini to calm me down! M
Pros: Compact Design, durable, easy to use, fast print speed, reliable
Cons: Heavy/Bulky, Difficult Setup

THE REAL DEAL

I TRIED 2 NEW PRINTERS SINCE MY OLD ALL IN ONE WOULD NOT SCAN TO MY MAC. THE FIRST ONE WAS A JOKE AND FELT LIKE A LITTE PLASTIC TOY. THE SECOND WAS COMPLICATED, AND COULDN'T PRINT STRAIGHT. AFTER RETURNING BOTH OF THESE, I BOUGHT THE MX860, AND IT WAS LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF THE OTHERS. SO MANY FEATURES, VERY EASY TO SET UP. IT IS A SUBSTANTIALLY MADE MACHINE, AND WORKS GREAT WITH MY MAC. ONLY DOWNSIDE IS THAT IT TAKES A LITTE BIT OF PROCESSING TIME FOR IT TO DECIDE IF IT IS A PRINTER, FAX MACHINE OR SCANNER. HOWEVER, I LIVE WITH THIS BECAUSE I FEEL THIS IS GREAT FRIEND WHO NEEDS LITTE TIME. I LOVE THE HEAVY CONSTRUCTION AND THE ABILITY TO PRINT ON BOTH SIDES AND ESPECIALLY TO SCAN MULTIPLE PAGES ON A FEEDER. BRAVO TO CANNON!!!
Pros: durable, Easy Setup, easy to use, multiple page scanner
Cons: Slow Print Speed

I really like this machine

This is the first color/multi-function printer I've owned. For the money, It's an excellent buy. It's very easy to set up and use, and after six years of getting up and reaching behind the printer, it's really nice to have the power switch on the front panel. The printer is fast and the quality is as good as I'm likely to need.
The unit is a bit bulky for a small office; because the paper tray is on the bottom, you can just place it on a desk. It needs to be on a table where the tray can easily slide out. I got around this by finding a box that was the right size and placing the unit on top of the box.
My major complaint is the ink consumption. I'm used to laser printer toner, which lasts much longer; but the ink use is clearly an issue. It's hard to say if the unit is measuring it correctly, but at my rate of usage the ink should last longer.
Pros: Easy Setup, easy to use, fast print speed
Cons: Large Footprint, High Ink Consumption

Good printer!

I bought this machine for my medium sized business. I have been using it for about two weeks and have had no problems so far. I have not used the wireless connection nor have I used the fax. The paper tray is on the very bottom and is a bit of a pain to get at. I plan on raising the printer so the paper tray is more accessible. I found the network setup a bit frustrating. I am one who typically is able to take the product out of the box and set it up. I had to resort to the directions in order to get the machine to work through a network. I strongly encourage reading the directions before setting it up. The menus and buttons on the printer are pretty self explanatory. I have some not so computer literate people in my office and they seem to be able to figure the printer out.
Pros: Compact Design, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use

Great printer but installation was confusing

I've only had this printer installed for less than a month, but I really like it so far! It's REALLY easy to use! I like that it's very quiet, too! We replaced our old printer of 7 + years with this wireless all in one, so we would be able to print from our laptop in another room without having to boot someone off of the desktop computer. The size of this printer is about the same as our old printer but the old one was taller so this one seems smaller in a way. All in all we are really happy with this purchase.
I've had a chance to make copies from the top loader and that worked like a charm! I was able to put several pieces of paper in it at a time and it worked great and quickly. I did have a couple of problems w/ paper jams but I believe those were NOT the printers fault and the printer actually fixed itself both times! I wouldn't think this printer works fast enough for an office that does lots of printing/copying but it's an upgrade for us. It could just be me but I couldn't find the directions on how to use the top loader to make multiple copies, so I had to figure it out by trial and error. Which btw you load the paper where you would send a fax. We bought this printer for the printing and copying features. The fax and photo printing features are bonuses and we won't use those very much.
The installation of this printer was a bit confusing for us. We are not savvy when it comes to electrical products of this sort, but from the reviews we thought it would be no problem. We wanted to be totally wireless for our desktop and our laptop. Afterwards we were unsure if we had the desktop installed correctly, so I called Canon. When I called I was told that there would be a 5-9 min. wait for the next rep and that if I wanted to, I could enter my call back # and they would call me back without losing my place in line! This is a VERY cool service Canon provides!! They actually called me back before 5 mins.. The only downside to this was when the service called me back the message was already playing before I answered the call and it didn't repeat itself, so I had to call back a 2nd time (and wait a 2nd time). I let the rep know about this problem so hopefully it'll be fixed soon. But if it isn't fixed, press the #2 on your key pad when they call you back...pressing #9 will disconnect you. The rep that I got was very nice and helpful. She made sure that our desktop was installed correctly and it was! Then I had her help me connect the laptop since I already had her on the phone. Connecting the laptop to the printer via wireless router was a breeze w/ the rep's help. :) She then helped me make sure the fax was set up correctly. We only have one phone line in our house so I wanted to make sure that I hadn't goofed that up. After going through some steps she declared that I had the fax set up correctly too, I couldn't believe it! But, then we ran into a problem when we tried a test fax. The rep couldn't figure out why I couldn't receive her fax, so she told me to call my phone/cable carrier to have them help me figure out how to connect the fax to the phone. Of course, the phone/cable company wouldn't help me with a 3rd party product....so I called Canon back and got a new rep and he helped me figure out how to send and receive faxes. The first rep and I had all of it all connected correctly, it's the procedure that you have to go through once you know you're getting a fax through your phone line that was hanging the first rep up.
Even though we went through some frustrating moments during the installation process (like we ALWAYS go through when we get a product of this type), I'm still VERY happy with this printer purchase! Canon also included some 4x6 photo paper as a bonus in with the paperwork so I printed off some pictures and they look wonderful!!! You can't go to a store to have them printed and look any better! I'm just astounded how great the pictures look. Way to go Canon!!!
Pros: fast print speed, easy to use, great pictures
Cons: Difficult Setup
