I bought this Canon to replace my former Canon Pixma. The reason: basically price. We live in an age where it's less money to buy a new, better, machine than to have the older one serviced. Yet, on the other hand, this model which I've just installed is better designed and quieter. Therefore, I'm optimistic.

Best printer so far

I have had this printer for about 3 months. I am not sure why it has two black ink tanks if it only uses one. The bigger one ran out and the other one is still new. I don't know why it's there if it won't use it. The memory stick door does not stay shut, I had to put a piece of tape on it. Other than that I am very happy with this printer. Love the double sided print feature.
Pros: easy to use, fast print speed, reliable, Sharp Tones & Colors
Cons: Heavy/Bulky, Flimsy Construction

Installation wasn't very easy to do, after setting up the printer, the color pictures were'nt acceptable, I think it needs to much adjustments. I'm a true Canon believer, but this is a disappointment so far.
Pros: Compact Design
Cons: Heavy/Bulky, Slow Print Speed, Dull Tones & Colors
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A little slow on the printing

Operation panel is fairly uniform as compared to the office products I use at work. Set-up is user friendly, multi-language. The printing function is tediously slow. It takes a minute or so to think about what it has to do, and then starts its slow grind to producing the printed matter. Afterward, it chews and clunks for another minute or so before it's finally done w/ the function.
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, durable, Lightweight/Portable, Sharp Tones & Colors, easy to use
Cons: Slow Print Speed

Easy to setup --- especially using the flash drive method to load pc settings. Very simple to use. Great quality print, copy, scan. May be the best multi-function printer I have ever owned!

I thought the printer was very easy to set up just follow the instructions. I installed it on the network and have multiple PC connecting to it. While at first it seems large it is replacing a printer and a scanner. I have been impressed with it scanning printing and copying. I am able to use it from any of the PC's on the lan and it works like the printer is attached to the PC. The documentation that is included is great if you need assistance in doing unusual things. I have been unable to get the fax to work, but I am sure that is a Vonage issue. I did not need the fax and only wanted the other options so I won't switch phone companies.
Pros: Easy Setup, easy to use

Great Prints

I've had this printer for about 2 months now, and it worked great with my 2 WindowsXP laptops over the wireless network. Did have problems downloading all the driver and software updates necessary to print from our newest Windows 7Pro computer. Downloading only the driver update didn't do it, you have to download several other software updates, and change the printer properties. Took about 1.5 hr to figure all this out, so that's why it's not 5 stars across all fields.
Pros: reliable, durable, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, single-color cartridges are more cost-effective
Cons: Large Footprint, Heavy/Bulky, Difficult Setup
