Bad printer from the beginning. First problem, connecting wirelessly, spent lots of time troubleshooting, then found out, you must first connect it via USB, then wirelessly.......HELLO!!! Then of course the unthinkable bottom tray, if you USE the printer, I mean for more than the test page, not a good design, problems....finally I switched to the rear tray - that lasted a few months...then, tried testing a duplex print - BOOM, back tray problems too...basically it's a paper weight....In my opinion, not worth the hassle, and money.
Cons: Difficult to use, Large Footprint, Heavy/Bulky, Difficult Setup, unreliable, Flimsy Construction
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Canon PIXMA 860 is a Dud

My experience: The PIXMA 860 is sloooow. It eats ink. It is hard to program. It provides relatively poor print quality. And it makes you reset your preference for collated output every time the machine switches/is switched from "Copy" to one of the other functions. I feel it is a dud.

Maybe Good Product -- Too Complex

I've been using/maintaining computers and computer peripherals since the TRS-80 Model 1 Level 2 era (early 1980s) -- and it still took me 4 to 5 hours of messing around to unpack the MX860 and figure out how to go through all the hardware installation, ink tank installation, alignment, software installation, networking and registration steps -- and I still don't know just what software went where on my MacBook, or how to get rid of the unwanted "Canon IJ Network Scan Utility" in my laptop's menu bar. Product may function well -- it seems to, thus far, and seems to have automatically connected to three other laptops on our household LAN -- but it's far too complex, and does too many things behind the scenes, for my tastes. It's not especially fast at printing; only time will tell on reliability and ink consumption. I'm going back to laser printers.
Pros: Compact Design
Cons: Difficult Setup, inadequate paper tray

I love this printer, it has so many different features. The double sided printing is awesome. The only headache i've had with it is the scanning feature, ive had to troubleshoot online a couple times to get it to work.

Worthless junk

This printer just wasted 12 pieces of good paper and lots of ink trying to print a single page from an Excel spreadsheet which looked fine in print preview. I would select grayscale and it would then pop back to color. It printed various parts of the page in different font sizes and colors on various parts of 12 pages. My 10 year old cheap printer works much better than this, at half the cost. Furthermore, the ink was rather smeared and left streaks across the paper, even though I was using high quality paper and the normal print quality. Because I just used this for the first time, but bought it several months ago, I suppose I cannot return it.
Cons: Flimsy Construction, Difficult to use, High Ink Consumption, unreliable, Dull Tones & Colors

Being my first Canon(MX860), it is a joy to use. The wireless connection was easy to implement . My wife likes it being available to her notebook without going thru a router in the desk top. Unfortunately not having long distance phone service I can not use the fax mode.

Not such a hot machine

paper jams are fairly constant. Incredibly slow in trying to get it started printing so I can see if the error has been fixed. If I figured on a per print level, this is one of the most expensive printers anywhere. Avoid.
Cons: add a con
