Very satisfied

I have been using this printer for over a year now. I actually purchased it as I was returning to grad school and needed a better machine than the one I was using. I did alot of research and purchased this one. For the price you pay, this printer is a great deal. I've used it for printing school presentations, including multiple color copies and also when I work from home. It is somewhat noisy and has a large footprint, but I'm very happy with the included features and performance.
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, durable, Sharp Tones & Colors, easy to use
Cons: Large Footprint, noisy
I would recommend this to a friend!

MP Navigator Scan Software
on August 14, 2010

The scanner function is disappointing because of "intelligence" built into the MP Navigator program. It assumes that the user didn't load some of the sheets correctly and flips them 180 degrees so they are upside down. There is no provision to rotate the view of individual sheets prior to saving as an Adobe Acrobat file.
The users only option is to manually insert the sheets onto the platen one at a time to avoid this problem. It completely defeats the value of feeding multiple sheets through the document feeder.
Scanned copy resolution is easily varied and it handles black & white or color and single or two-sided copies. Scan resolution at 300 dpi is sufficient for most home use documents.

Waste of time, money & patience

This machine is cheap on the front end expensive on the rear. Must buy the PGI-220BK Ink Tank in bulk just to use this machine for a day. Machine shuts down and does not work when this one of 5 inkwells is depleted. Scan feature is a joke. Fax doesn't work - if PGI-220BK ink is low. Document feeder is cheap and unreliable.
Pros: none that i can think of
Cons: list too long

Like Features / Hate Cleaning
on August 7, 2012

Love features, but hate having to clean printer so often. Streaks, no blacks, goes through ink quickly. Have a supply of qtips and alcohol on hand to clean the clear strip, the print heads, etc.
Pros: Small Footprint, fast print speed, wireless printing
Cons: Low Quality Output, unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Has Rough Edges

I have had my printer/scanner for a few years and found it generally good. Today I scanned a five page document and tried to save it to a PDF file as usual and found that two pages were changed from portrait to landscape in my apple IMAX. Two extra tries had the same result. Tried to reload the original setup disc and ran into a maze of confusion. I have little use for color printing and print in black and white. If the color inkwells are low it will not print in black and white until replaced. I only use my Canon for scanning since I purchased a dedicated black and white printer. I arrange my files by year in documents and view two or more years in the same column. I must scroll the full length of the open page to get to the latest file area and have not found a way to " flip" top to bottom. Recently I tried to load pictures from a memory card without success. Overall the Canon is a good product with a few drawbacks.
Pros: durable, easy to use, good print
Cons: ink consumption, task time, repetitive steps

Lazy printer
on May 7, 2017

Laziest printer I ever had. I own this printer for about 8 years and feel disappointed. Printing first page takes forever. Inks need to be replaced often even without printing anything. Printer head gone and replaced short after warranty. Printer display turns on randomly consuming electricity. I'm going for laser next time.
