My Old Canon Was Better

My old Canon MP530 was the easiest printer to use from the box. This MX860 is very difficult to use. I still have not figured out how to use the rear feed for printing labels and heavy card stock. The little 2.5" viewer is not as easy as the MP530. To change settings on my old one, I simply pushed a button. This MX requires you to navigate through different menus and I still can't find what I want. I really hate to call the support line (needed to to get the latest downloads for Mac Snow Leopard) and speak to someone whom I have difficulty understanding.
Cons: Difficult to use, Slow Print Speed
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Dislike more than any printer

I need a printer that not only prints in color but also has the capabilities to use a black ink only. The color cartridges are gone too quickly when printing in black and white or color. This is the first time I have dealt with a printer that makes the user have all cartridges full before the printer will work. You pay through the nose for ink because of this problem.
Pros: durable
Cons: Slow Print Speed, Large Footprint, High Ink Consumption, ink hog
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Best Purchase Ever. NOT!

New, expensive laptop computer & new Canon 860 AIO printer with wireless (they say) connection. I wouldn't know. It won't work. The printer works wireless with my old PC, but not the new one. Sure, I checked compatibility issues online & it says it will work. Sure, I made what appears to be all the right selections and it still won't work. Unless you are a computer guru, I don't recommend buying this printer.

It was pretty easy to set up. Mine is directly connected to our MAC and wired to a PC in another room. The software is easy to use once you get use to it and there are some nice photo print features included. I have printed a few photo cards. It's design is nice but not as compact as I would have liked. I had no success in wireless connection for my laptop. I can fax out but have not yet figured how to receive a fax. If I leave the printer on and I get a house call the fax noise comes on as if it's receiveing a fax and I can't shut if off. I have to hang up and wait for the machine to do its thing and then call the party back. I think I will figure it out but will take some doing. I'll try the 800#.

I have had this printer for about 2 years now and have no complaints. Once I had to re-set up the printer on my home network as I changed my router password so had to phone customer service. I was surprised to see that Canon's customer service is in the USA - go Canon!!! I will always buy Canon just because of this. Also they have great products so it is a win on all counts.

About 6 months after purchase, the printer head started failing. I tried several different print cartridges and several "cleaning" and "deep cleaning" functions to no avail.
Printer is incredibly bulky and I would certainly not recommend this printer to anyone.
Cons: Slow Print Speed, Large Footprint, Heavy/Bulky, High Ink Consumption, unreliable, streaky printout
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Reliable Printer with Good Permormance

I've owned this printer for about 2 years. I just use it for printing basic documents, never for photos. Not saying the printer is bad for that, but for the cost of the ink I would just assume pay walmart to print my photos.
Pros: I like that it can be connected to my home network, no wires and no mess awesome. Scans a lot of papers quickly. I bought a few homes over the years and the printer has come in handy for that. I also like that I can scan documents right to a USB thumb drive.
Cons: The print speed is reasonably fast once it's warmed up. It's the warm up part that takes for-ev-er. Plan on waiting several minutes to get the first page out. The ink is very expensive (as most ink is), but it always stings to pay more dollars in ink than the printer is worth. The last thing is the paper tray. Not a huge deal, but it is clunky and sometimes hard to pull out and back in.
Overall: This printer works great for me because most of my use is scanning and not printing. If I printed more the price of ink would really drive me crazy. I don't bash the print quality just the high cost to do it.
Btw - the set up was easy for me. The network set up might be a little tricky for some, but it's not overly difficult. Just follow the instructions and you'll get it.
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, durable, easy to use
Cons: Large Footprint, slow warm up
I would recommend this to a friend!
