Really impressed with the wireless scanning capabilities. I'm using a mac and love the printer! I had a little problems joining the printer to my wireless network at first but after talking with Customer support, I was able to connect it. Love the rear print tray and the cassette paper tray on the bottom. I'm constantly using both for different paper types and its great not having to switch the paper out. Scanning and copying features are also great! This printer does everything that I need for my business that is based out of my home.
Pros: reliable, durable, Low Ink Consumption, fast print speed
Cons: Heavy/Bulky
I would recommend this to a friend!

A Fine Multi-Function Printer

I've been using my PIXMA MX860 for 1/2 year now, a marvelous machine by design and construction; the ink-jets last a reasonably long time and are easy to replace at a good price. Menu options are well laid out and are user friendly (even for this cave-man); I recently figured out the problem that I was having with the Scanner operations. It was necessary to go back to the setup CD and choose the options tab, and include the MPNavigator EX Supplied Scanner Software. It now works like a champ, to PDF etc. on my computer--Enjoy--Cave-Man
Pros: reliable, Compact Design, Easy Setup, durable, Low Ink Consumption, Sharp Tones & Colors, easy to use
Cons: Slow Print Speed, Large Footprint, Heavy/Bulky
I would recommend this to a friend!

Hate this printer

I hate this printer. I have had it for 7 months and wish I had never bought it. The paper tray is flimsy and doesn't hold much paper. It will not slide in and out very easy and if you move the printer, it just falls out. The wifi network setup is extremely difficult to set up. Also, if you have to set up a new network, the instructions don't tell you that you have to uninstall the software, reinstall it, set the printer back to factory settings and a bunch of of things that are just idiotic. I spent over two hours with tech support the first time and have to do it again because I moved. The printer also uses alot of ink and it is more expensive. I previously had a Canon MP730 which I loved. I needed a wireless printer and regret buying this one.
Cons: Difficult to use, Large Footprint, Heavy/Bulky, Difficult Setup, High Ink Consumption, Flimsy Construction

Disappointed

I received this for Christmas to go with my new computer. I spent an hour on the phone with service department to finally get the fax to work. I never did get the Wireless to work. The worst part is that it constantly stops printing in the middle of an article. According to my computer, it says it is printing, but it isn't. I sometimes have to start over 3 or 4 times to get a complete article and other times it just does't get printed. I give up.

Service Life is Terrible

After 18 months of light duty use the print head has failed like the last Canon printer I bought. I am only on my 4th set of ink refills and think the service life should be a little better. The printer constantly runs the cleaning process which seems to consume more ink than printing.
Pros: Compact Design, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed
Cons: Difficult Setup, High Ink Consumption, unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Crown of Thorns

Like all machines, it takes time and application to learn its attributes. Once there, it is very satisfactory as a small-output B&W and occasional color printer. Scanning is fine, too, my other common use for it. The thorns in this otherwise adequate machine is its enigmatic consumption of color ink cartridges. We all know the printer makers charge like wounded bulls for their cartridges. What is less obvious is how the (Canon) printers use up color ink when one only prints in B&W. Why does this printer use up color cartridges almost as fast as B&W when 99% of my printing is B&W?
Pros: reliable
Cons: Large Footprint, High Ink Consumption, uses up color ink on b&w printing
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Disappointing

I have had this printer for 8 months now. I was very excited to get such a good price on this printer. My excitement quickly faded when I found out how much the ink costs and how often the cartridges have to be replaced with such a light print load. This printer is for home use and in not used a great deal. I have used many different brands of printers in the past, and this is my first time using a printer from this company. Knowing how long they have been in the printer business, I was suprised by all the problems I have been having. I purchased it based on reviews from online tech sites that do reviews on this type of product all the time. It came very highly rated and I am not sure why. In addition to the ink consumption issue, I have had constant printing problems. Paper tray on the bottom is very fragile and sensitive. Paper gets jammed often. I have error messages constantly, but when I look in manual that error code is not there to reference. I have to turn the machine off and then on again and it MIGHT print. Now I am having actual print quality problems and have an email into the help desk to see what the problems is. Have done all the necessary maintenance through troubleshooting guide and still not printing correctly. When we purchased this product we had a professional come and set the network up and even he had problems with the set up. There are good things however that should be mentioned....duplexes great, rollers never misses a sheet or takes more than one at a time, photo quality is good when printing properly, fax & scan work great.
Pros: duplexing, fax & scanning, no feed problems, photo quality
Cons: Large Footprint, Heavy/Bulky, Difficult Setup, High Ink Consumption, unreliable, Flimsy Construction
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
