Just a bit disappointed

I bought this blu-ray player because I previously purchased the BD-390 but this time didn't need the wireless connectivity. I didn't do much research on this because I did think that that only difference was that it didn't have wireless. However, it also didn't have dlna access for me to access my media files on the network drive. However, I do enjoy having netflix available and it is a good, reliable player. But if I knew it wasn't dlna compliant, I wouldn't purchased the BD-390.
Pros: Performance, easy to use, Quality
Cons: no dlna
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It even survives drowning!

About 9 months after I purchased the unit a contractor got my unit wet (water poured into the unit). This happened for several days until we noticed it. The unit was actually dripping water. We let it dry and it continued to work without a problem (that's the 5 stars for quality).
Features are on par with others I've seen except that this unit has support for AVCHD. To me, streaming content from YouTube, Netflix, etc. is not a killer. I believe that a dedicated box with MythTV or Mythbuntu is better suited for those tasks and provide a whole lot more features for a lower cost. In that line, since LG uses Free Software in the player, I was anxious to see if the unit supported Ogg/FLAC/Theora but that was not the case (all my music is in lossless FLAC). It would have cost LG nothing to implement such features. A firmware update will be able to do it, so I am hopeful.
All the DVDs that I've watched had upconverted beautifully. Ease of use is above average. Menus are easy to navigate and in-movie settings selection were good. I appreciated it even more after comparing it with a friend's Samsung player.
When I bought it, the price was average compared with other players but when everything gets thrown in, the value of the player is excellent.
This player is very easy to use, it'll even turn on the TV when you put in a dvd. The picture quality is awesome.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality

This is my first blu-ray player and I was not disappointed. Disks load fast; standard DVD's are up-converted and look every bit as good as a OPPO up-converting player. The hand-held remote signal strength is a bit weak; you need to have a good line-of-sight to get it to work. I have many of my DVD's, CD's, and photos backed up on my home PC and The LG plays them perfectly. To get the best picture quality, however, I ran a ethernet cable (100 Mhz) to the unit rather than use the wireless connection. The unit does not play DVD image files, so you must convert them to .VOB or several other supported formats (I wish it would play image files like some of the competition). I also like the feature that allows automatic software update of the unit.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Quality
Cons: won't play dvd image files, doesn't support internet tv

The only con I would have is that the loading speed is sometimes a bit sluggish. Overall, the product is of above average quality. If used with an LG tv the player will even communicate with the tv to tell it to switch to the video mode associated with the player.
Pros: Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality

This is my 1st Blu-ray player and I couldn't be happier with it. The picture quality is superb and it's very user friendly. I've purchased a few Blu-ray DVD's just for fun but will not go crazy buying anymore. Been there, done that with videos. :-)
