The first time use of this filter - had to be replaced within 10 days since the water started tasting like lemon.

Thank you for contacting ZeroWater. Due to the amount of variables involved we try and stay away from using time to determine filter life, instead we use gallons, a more constant form of measurement. Filter life is based solely off of the quality of the water being filtered. The higher the tap water is in dissolved solids the shorter the filter life will be.
These filters tend to clump up and won't filter water until you remove and shake it, then replace it. Very disappointing!

We certainly apologize for the continued frustrations with the filters, typically this is an easy and quick fix, simply remove the filter from the container and unscrew it from the tray. Then hold the filter sideways/horizontal and grip the filter very tightly and shake the filter with some good force side to side and back and forth 8 to 10 times. This will loosen the filter media and break the air lock. If you do not clear all of air from the filter this issue will continue to compound itself over and over. Also never fill the reservoir directly from the faucet or spigot from your sink as this is naturally aerated and will force air down inside the filter. It is best to fill the reservoir with a large glass or measuring cup and pour into the corner of the reservoir away from the center of the filter. If there is ever a filter that simply just will not fix itself when the aforementioned trouble shooting steps have been followed we are more than happy to replace that filter. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Need more thought and improvement

I purchased when they first came out. Before the Culligan name. Why were they made from plastic and not glass initially. I purchased more than 5 and gave to family members as gifts. The other day after I replaced the filter and added water, it started with a 3 reading. That has never happened before.

Thank you for contacting ZeroWater. The most accurate way to get reading is to test the water directly inside the pitcher. You can do this by removing the reservoir from the pitcher and sticking the meter in the filtered water sitting in the pitcher. If you get a 000 reading inside the pitcher it is possible that the cup or glass you were using before had soap residue on it causing the meter to read above 000. If you are not getting 000 in the pitcher, try the following steps to see if you can get the filter to read 000 on the meter. Dry off the filter with a clean paper towel. Then place the filter over a clean paper cup. Run a small amount of water directly into the filter and test the water that collects into the cup. If the meter does not read 000 it is possible that unfiltered water got into the pitcher via a leak at the O-ring. In order for filtered water to read correctly there must be a perfect seal where the filter is screwed into the reservoir. Make sure the filter is screwed in from the bottom not dropped in from the top.
Love how clean my water tastes. I live in Flint, MI where the warer crisis happened (still hasn't really gone away). My water is still a little discolored, but at least there's "no more lead" and with the filters, I have clean drinking water. It was nice when we got the huge discount during the crises, but since its technically over. Anyway, I dont like the new peel off lid and is there a recycling program or something for the used filters? Other than that, great product and as long as there's no changes to the way the filters work, I will be a forever customer.

Thank you for the feedback, we have adjusted the adhesive glue on the peel off lids to make them come off easier and cleaner going forward. We appreciate your business.

I've had it for about 8 months, our water is so bad i need to do a filter change weekly, but its still cheaper than bottled water. Tastes great!
