There is no doubt that these filters work beautifully for filtering our lousy water here at Canyon Lake. Very frustrating though that within a few days of installing a new filter it begins to slow & stop. Not sure why this is happening but eventually it begins to filter again & all is well.

Thank you for contacting ZeroWater. From time to time the filter can develop an air lock, some little air pockets or air bubbles that get trapped down inside the filter. Typically this is an easy and quick fix, simply remove the filter from the container and unscrew it from the tray. Then hold the filter sideways/horizontal and grip the filter very tightly and shake the filter with some good force side to side and back and forth 8 to 10 times. This will loosen the filter media and break the air lock.

If you live in an area that is known for poor quality drinking water, your filters may need more frequent changing. I know this because I use this product in two different cities. One with passable drinking water (Sonoma), one with nasty drinking water (Santa Barbara).

Slow even after burping

The only time I get full flow of the water in the top into the bottom is the first batch after installing a new filter. This thing is slower than...whatever. I "burp" the filter regularly, but still don't get more than a few ounces at a time from the filter. I am very frustrated with the system. The only thing I like is that it filters my well water of 257 ppm to zero to five or six before I have to replace the filter.

We certainly apologize for the continued frustrations with the filters, the filter getting air locked like this is a common occurrence with a gravity fed filtration system. Unfortunately it is just somewhat the nature of the technology, generally if you put an inch of water in the reservoir and then grip the middle section of the filter with both hands and firmly squeeze the filter in a pumping action until you are completely certain that there is no more air coming out of the top of the filter this will solve the issue for the life of that filter. If you do not clear all of air from the filter this issue will continue to compound itself over and over. Also never fill the reservoir directly from the faucet or spigot from your sink as this is naturally aerated and will force air down inside the filter. It is best to fill the reservoir with a large glass or measuring cup and pour into the corner of the reservoir away from the center of the filter. If there is ever a filter that simply just will not fix itself when the aforementioned trouble shooting steps have been followed we are more than happy to replace that filter. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Love zero water!!

I love my zero water!! We have very hard water with high mineral content. We use the zero water for our small appliances and our pets.
It's also for emergency uses. It is the equivalent of the Berkey.
