One of the filters had to be thrown away. The water coming out of it had a foul taste. It was definitely the filter, because the one we used next was fine. Honestly, these filters aren’t inexpensive, so having one not work (and who knows about the other 4 we haven’t opened yet), is not a great sign.

Zerowater filters will probably be useful if you live in an area where the TDS in the tap water is already low (0 to <50 ppm). But if you live in a place like Los Angeles where the TDS is around 200-300 ppm, then this water filter is not very useful. As the filter lifetime only lasts around 10 days. Once the filter's lifespan runs out, the water starts to taste sour and plasticky.

Thank you for contacting ZeroWater. We empathize with your situation and we have spoken with many customers with this issue. Some of our customers have used other, traditional filtration systems to treat the water prior to filtering through a Zero Water filter, in many cases that will cut the TDS level down enough to make the use of Zero Water more economical. There is very little we can do to extend the life of our filters when the water supply is so high in TDS. Recycle program (Discounts given for returning used filters) is not working. Phone operator says computer system has not been working for several months. I hope the issue is resolved soon.

My tap water is off the charts: --- ...I get 3 dashes so I know my water has already "flat lined" and I of course don't drink it. I can taste a difference with the ZeroWater and I'm very happy with Zero!
