Possible Bad Filter / Poor Tester Design/Placement

I just replaced my filter for the second time and the water has a strange taste.
I wanted to test the water with the TDS tester that came with my ZeroWater pitcher, but due to the poor placement of the tester so close to where the water leaks onto the lid and the non-watertight design of the tester has caused the batteries to corrode inside and rendered it useless.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Best filtration system ever. Water taste clean and is refreshing. I don't waste plastic bottles and I can't wait to recycle these filters to feel like I'm part of the solution. Thank you for such an awesome product.
