So let me start by saying I have 3 pitchers. One at home, one in my place of business and one in europe. The first pitcher I bought came with 2 filters and it was a dream. Water tasted amazing, meter stayed in zero for a couple of months and then I decided to buy more filters and add the other two since I loved it. Well the next pack of filters I had a weird taste come from the water almost like a lemon but not sour. Very different. I thought it was Maybe I was having an off day with my taste buds. The water continued to taste weird so I went ahead and replaced the filter, and the water tasted fine again. About less than 2 weeks later. I got the same odd flavor in the water, and even noticed at my work, the same thing, weird taste! When I travel to Europe to stay where my husband is working. I brought a picture and a filter. We had the same issue over there as well, weird taste after just weeks. I contacted the company and they were very gracious and sent me 3 new filters and apologized. I replaced all of my filters and yet again the same issue, Within weeks, I'm getting a strange flavor in my water. I called the company again and the lady said she had no idea what I was talking about and never heard of such problems. I told her I have also seen people Write reviews about a odd flavor in their water describing exactly what i taste. AFter discussing with her. I told her I did not want new filters. I just wanted to know if something has changed. Because the first 2 filters work like a dream. The lady said nothing has changed and told me and insisted that I keep my pictures and she will send 3 new filters and not give up. So I got the 3 new filters at the time I was to travel to Europe so I brought the new filter. So when i got there, I attached The filter but it would not seal and was leaking bad. My husband tried too. He could not get it to stop leaking. We noticed the new filter is a different color blue and thinner, so he then took the old 0 ring from the old filter and Put it on the new one and it sealed just fine right away. Once I got home I attached a new filter to mine and same thing. Leaks bad! Well my husband is not here so I just did the best I could and tolerating it leaking because i gave up. Infigured maybe a slow leak will just have to be ok. Well. 2 weeks into me being home I just fixed a glass of water before bed and literally spit it out. Same odd taste! I give up :( thank you for working with me, I have nothing bad to say about the customer service I appreciate it.

Thank you for contacting ZeroWater. Apologies for the issue with the filter. Please try giving the filter one more hard twist the the right to complete the seal.
Water quality is great but it's cheaper to buy gallons of distilled water. I'm lucky to get 15 gallons from each filter and can buy bottled water for less. I live in Los Angeles and tap water runs about 430 tds which is a little better than avg but water tastes great for about 15 gallons after which it's horrendous.

The national average for TDS in tap water is around 200-220ppm, with your tap water reading 430ppm filter life will certainly be shorter than normal. Water smells like fish and tastes not so great. Just had to stop using all together. The water is almost hard to drink. Wanted to love it just didn't work for us.

ZeroWater's Ion-exchange resin filters are a reliable and efficient way to get delicious, filtered water. They work by exchanging ions in the water with regenerated ions from the resin beds, which can remove a variety of contaminants from water, including lead, nitrates, sulfates, calcium, magnesium, and other heavy metals. The exchanged ions bind with the contaminants, making them much easier to filter out. Our combination of cation and anion exchange resins can reduce 99.6% of dissolved contaminants in your water. However, when the filter is exhausted no more contaminants can be filtered out and an unpleasant smell and taste may be present. This is a common cause of overuse and can also occur by pouring hot water into the filter or freezing it. Be aware, though, that while the smell is unpleasant, it does not indicate any harm or danger. It is only time to replace your filter. Change your filter once the TDS meter reads 006.
One filter used to last me months...now I'm lucky if i can get through a month without having to change it because the filter makes my water taste like rotting fish even though it's still showing zero dissolved solids in the water. Buying bottled water would be cheaper at this point. For the price, this is ridiculous.

Thank you for contacting ZeroWater. Due to the amount of variables involved we try and stay away from using time to determine filter life, instead we use gallons, a more constant form of measurement. Filter life is based solely off of the quality of the water being filtered. The higher the tap water (even when filtered) is in dissolved solids the shorter the filter life will be.
