My town's water is heavily chlorinated, so much it smells like bleach sometimes. It also contains acceptable but higher levels of lead due to older municipal reservoir routes. ZeroWater filters remove the smell and help remove lead content, easing my concern of using the tap water for my pets or family cooking.

Several years ago, I learned from the Environmental Working Group's website that Chromium 6, a deadly byproduct of manufacturing, is in nearly every water system in the US. That day, I immediately sought a way to filter it out of my drinking water. I discovered ZeroWater, the only pitcher filtration system that removes Chromium 6 and all pollutants. I love that I can monitor the purity of my water with the TDS sensor mounted into the pitcher's lid. I hope I will always be able to purchase ZeroWater filters.
With a family of 4 plus two very thirsty large dogs, filtered water is definitely needed. Zerowater is the best. Although, yes, when the filter is about to go out, it has a bad taste, it's still doing it's job. Like other people who use zerowater, we attained a second container for using prefiltering with the used filter, giving the filter second life. We're happy with our filters, and we're happy with how it helps protect us from our city water.
