The filters do well to clean up the water and remove any chemical taste, however this is done very slowly. When the bottom half of the filter is submerged in filtered water while in the pitcher, the filter stops filtering water. The filter must be above and out of the processed water in the pitcher to continue to allow water to pass through. This is true even if little holes are punched into the top black mesh to release trapped air. I have been using ZeroWater Filter for more then 8 years and this problem only started about three years ago.

From time to time, a filter may develop an air bubble or air pocket. Carefully lift the reservoir, grip the body of the filter at its mid-section and give the filter 4-5 squeezes while there is water filtering through. This will return the flow back to its normal state.
Our experience with Zero has been somewhat mixed. Generally, we're happy. But once in a while, we would have a filter that literally make our water smell like rotten fish after just a short time of use (the last time it happened it was less than 2 weeks). This happens once in a while. I guess as with all mass production lines some defects are inevitable.

Love these filters. I only wish the water tester that measures the cleanliness of the water worked well. I hate to have to keep ordering them but they just stop working. In fact I won't. I'll just keep track of when to replace the filter.
Our second 12 pack order. Always well packaged and protected. Our unfiltered water runs 150 ppm on average with occasional spikes to high 200 ppm. One filter lasts 30 -35 days for us (two adults, two cats).
I started using Zero water about 12-14 years ago while living in Southern California where the TDS was always in the 200 range. I found the water tasted better, and didn't leave coffee or hot water pots full of scale. In fact the scale in the hot water pot went away in using it with Zero Water. Both my adult daughter now use Zero water, as they live in areas where TDS exceeds 200 a lot, and found it is great for every drinking and cooking use. Thus I've not only bought them the Big glass water cooler but buy them filters to keep them with a decent supply. I now live in a location where the water has a normal 20-30 TDS reading where my filter last a year, instead of a month, but I still use mine daily for coffee cooking and tea water, just because I've been spoiled. I also live in a small town, along highway 101 in central Oregon, where a major earthquake or heavy rainstorm can and has shut down the road, and effect power, water supply. So I've filled water containers with Zero water for emergency use, and I can also use it to clean water to make it drinkable. Yes, a great product.
