Great Find

I was looking for an up conversion DVD player to replace another brand that stopped working. I saw this one and the price was right so I did not hesitate to buy it but was not expecting too much. The unit has a great look and goes nicely with my Samsung TV both with high gloss black finish. The picture is terrific. The digital sound is great as expected. I did have to change the format of the digital output to get Dolby digital working on my surround sound receiver. I have had this for several months now I am very impressed with this player. The player has a USB port for ripping cds and hopefully a firmware upgrade will enable MP4 video playback through that as well. I plan to buy another one soon. Great job Samsung!

decent dvd player

I am pleased with this product as far as the picture but there have been a few problems mechanically. The tray has stuck 3 times in one year and the machine is very noisy when a disc is in use. There is enough noise that it can be heard over the volume of the movie. It is now used in the play room for kids programs.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This dvd player is a very good deal. Lots of options, works great with Bose home entertainment audio system. Very easy to install and setup.

Mystery Glitch

After playing about 1 3/4 hours into 2 hour home recordings, the player goes into pause mode of its own accord. Initially, after a few seconds it reverts to playing normally. Then the pause periods get longer and longer until I run out of patience. The player does not respond to "Play" or any other commands from the remote. Only turning the power off and then back on resumes normal operation. The telephone Customer Support person ascribes the glitch to something being wrong with the home recorded discs, but I wonder when same section of the disc can be replayed without any problem. Samsung is to be commended for its Customer Support where I was able to talk to a live person without any delay.

Great DVD Player for the Price

Player provided excellent picture and audio. Since I have no blu-ray player I cannot compare it to this type of DVD player. Instructions and menu were fairly easy to follow after initial familiarization. For its price it is definitely worth purchasing. Only negative for me: Wish they had a larger remote - somewhat difficult to find desired buttons and if it was white this would help. Grouping the most used buttons, i.e., play, pause, stop, fast forward/reverse in a section by themselves would improve usability. Also, at first glance one has to think if button label function is for button below or above label.

Samsung is number one in my book! I enjoy the simplicity of their products and the simple understanding of the instructions that come with the installing of their products. I will look for more Samsung appliances in the future.
