It is very difficult to enter the WPAPSK passkey with the remote. My passkey is very complicated and difficult to enter. It took over 35 minutes to enter it (26 characters) then I found the keyboard you use is missing a lot of keys which are critical for good security. I had to modify and reenter 4 times to get it right. When one makes a mistake entering the passkey, the system clears it not allowing me to correct it...another 35 minutes. I believe in security and this is most difficult about this system. I use a word doc to cut and paste for my PC's as I can't type the passkey two time in a row! Otherwise, the rest is great. What code can I use in my Verizon remote to make the unit select the input source for streaming?

Great choice of first Blu-Ray Player

The Samsung BD-P3600 is the best new item I've purchased wihtin the past few months. The network features were easy to set up and the firmware update completed without a hitch. It would be nice if there was an estimated time displayed for the update duration.
The housing is attractive but the very glossy plastic shows even the slightest amount of dust. Others may complain that the panel controls are not in front but on top. For me that worked out just fine because I can look down through a glass shelf at the controls without bending. I would have liked a more prominent "ON" light in the front display. The remote control is nicely designed but is very directional.
All types of discs play perfectly and the quality is amazing. Even though the literature claims only DVD-R discs are compatible, every DVD+R that I have created plays just fine.
The Netflix, YouTube & Pandora features are truly a bonus and add another dimension to this unit.
Don't hesitate to make this player your first choice.

Purchased this on clearance. we also have a BDP1590 we received for Christmas. We love both of them. Easy to set up. Remote is easy to operate./ Set up is very easy. I had a little trouble getting the sound setting correct for my older 2002 surround sound system. Finally got everything correct and it sounds great. Picture is awesome, even on a 1080I HDTV.

Samsung proves to be a great purchase once again!

We actually purchased this specific model because it included wireless capability. The idea of being able to order movies from home, directly to our Samsung blu-ray disc player, and then view them on our Samsung T.V. was very appealing. This product, like other Samsung products owned, provides quality performance. Connection to our existingmedia devices was completed with relative ease. The unit itself, was also easy to program. Network set up, with the exception of waiting for new / updated firmware to install, was managed quickly and simply by following the onscreen prompts. We were able to access Blockbuster's catalog of movies and view several trailers. To date, we've viewed both standard DVDs and Blue-Ray discs . . . All media resulted in a clear, crisp picture with superb sound. We're very pleased and we still haven't tried out the various other features like PC streaming, Pandora, MP3 music, etc. Might have to write a follow-up review!

It's OK, but is a tad touchy

Features are great but a tad touchy to use. Remote buttons are small but packed with many features. I have had to reset the remote and/or player a few times, but the quality is just wonderful with 1080P TV. I use the WI-FI on low band width and most of the time i only have quality issues on netflix. I am still trying to find out how to set up youtube to areas of interest show up on the player. Pandora works great. I am not into Preselects for taste but in this age preferences might have to change. I am pleased with the overall performance inspite of the rare issues and chat help has been just great at solving any issues. I applaud that they dont seem to read from a script but listen to your problem and try progressive steps to resolve and stay with you as long as it takes. Wonderful. That alone is worth the player!!!

MKV playback is TERRIBLE
on March 15, 2010

I purchased this unit hoping to use it as a base for playing mkv files off of a hard drive. It only seemed to play the mkv files that were originaly blu rays. And then it was very jittery. Almost as though someone was running with the camera while they were filming it. Completly unwatchable. Regular dvds that i turned into mkv, with the same program as the blu rays, would say format not supported. They would only play a few seconds of audio with no picture then shut down. Im very dissapointed and hope they can fix this with a firmware update. Aside from that, i really have like the blu ray disc playback so far.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

BDP3600 Blue Ray
on March 22, 2010

This is a great value blue ray player. I can't wait to try the wireless and give the Netflix a try. However I wish Samsung had a wireless router they recommended to use with this unit.
I really like the BDwise automatic setup. When I open the disk drawer, my Samsung 5.1 and LED tv automatically setup for watching the blue ray. Sweet!
I do wish that the unit played more than region 1 disks, and wish it played vcds.
