Hot Water Cycle is preset to a warm temperature

I am so disappointed this machine is noisy and the worst situation is the hot water is only warm, a government requirement now, but there should be a "sanitary cycle" or at least a warning on the spec sheet online to allow one to select a washer that gets hot water.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

quiet, simple to operate

My last washer DIED a horrible death. this washer is great. it runs quietly and efficiently. GE is a new washer brand for us, we wanted simple and easy to use and so far it is both. we bought it because of the brand name, the good price and the 5 star rating.

After looking at the new washers and realizing that they have features like weighting your clothes to determine the amount of water and a push button to turn it on, and special h.d. detergent, etc; I decided that I wanted a basic washer, similar to the one I'm replacing. This washer met that criteria. I do not want the fancy bells and whistles, just a basic standard washer that will do the job. My clothes have come out

Can actually fill the tub with water!

This was the only unit we could find that would actually allow the user to fill up the tub with water. All of the other so-called "high-efficiency" washers use such a tiny amount of water that they almost never get clothes clean. Ridiculous! With this thing, you can set the water level like you used to be able to do before manufacturers "improved" all of the new models. The agitation is not nearly as good as the one we bought in 2002, but WTH - it was the only one we could find like it. It's good enough, but could be much improved if the design engineers would listen to their Moms.

no hot water

knob says hot, but u only get warm. they say its because the new machines and detergent can clean with the same. if one of the selections on the knob says hot u would think that u would get hot. if u r not going to give us hot water, maybe u should remooooove the hot setting. don't ya think.
