Don't buy this if you can help it.

Unfortunately, we live in an old house and the laundry room was built with a small entryway so we had to buy this washer as it was the only one that would fit through the door. It gets imbalanced almost every load and we have to run and redistribute the clothing, and when you open it to redistribute the clothes and then close it again, often it doesn't continue to spin, it just drains without spinning so when the wash is done it's still really wet and you have to put it back through a spin cycle. The water doesn't fill enough, even on the highest wash level. The blades that move the clothes are soft plastic and have a little space on the bottom between the blades and the agitator base where clothes get caught and it's difficult to get them out. It's really lousy. Unfortunately, we should have kept our old washer, whose part that needed replacement cost about equal to what this washer cost. That was a GE too, much better. I guess they just don't make 'em like they used to. :(
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Delivery company did not switch the door swing as requested by my wife, which I had to do to make using it easier.

Reliable Top-Loader is Quiet & Effective

This top-loading clothes washer has been working wonderfully for four months. It's quiet, easy to operate, and gentle with clothes. The spin cycle extracts more water than my previous washer did, so now I use less dryer time. The polymer tub stays clean and white, and the deep-rinse option lets me adjust for big loads. I chose this mechanical-dial top-loader for simplicity, reliability and longevity. Note that the lid should lean somewhat farther back when it's open, but this is my only complaint.

So far so good

We wanted a GE to match the dryer that came with our new house, old washer was a GE and after four years started to leak transmission oil into the washing tub leaving gray oil spots on clothes. We were told it was impossible until a technician arrived and realized it was the bearings seal that had broken. Problem is you have to buy a new transmission to fix the bearings, according to the tech. long and short new washer was going to run the same as the repair. We like the new one since it was not an HE washer and did not have a locking lid. It does make different sounds, more of a swish swish, but it definitely not louder than our other GE, the first time I had to check to make sure it's running. Water levels are great, clothes come out clean, here's to hoping GE isn't in the business to sell us a washer every four years and the product quality my parents and grandparents were used to is still there.

It doesn't seem to run long enough on the heavy wash cycle, I often have to turn it back to have it wash longer. Same on the rinse cycle, it fills up, agitates just a few times then drains. I wish it had a 2 rinse option, that was my fault in not seeing that their was just one rinse in the description. It does seem to get the clothes clean, not as big as I'm use to but I was expecting that. It does fill up well, my old HE washer would use very little water and I couldn't get used to that. It also spins the water out well and isn't too noisy.

Best Washer Ever!

I have had this machine for five months and must say that it is the best washing machine that I have ever purchased. It has an excellent agitation cycle that works with even my oldest quilts.
