I had my previous shaver for at least 6 years... I liked it a lot but it was just worn out... The 6100 shaver is great! Nice clean smooth shave! Well worth the upgrade!

Would recommend to anyone wanting an electric razor
I've owned Norelco electric shavers in the past. This design makes shaving problem areas great. Pivoting head reaches areas that we untouched before.
Pros: close shave
Cons: dosen't work well with a wet shave
I would recommend this to a friend!

Looks great, but shaves poorly. I've been using this for several months and I never get a close shave.
Cons: doesn't shave well

Looks nice but not well disigned

There is a lot of space between the rotary blades and the edge of the head. This makes it difficult to shave close to the nose. It also has a large rigid charging stand, that does not pack well for travel. Other than that it works okay.
Pros: looks nice
Cons: not very practical
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

plastic cover over on/off switch cracks

the plastic cover (coating) at the on/off switch developed a crack after about a year. It was still within warranty so I was able to return it. They sent me a brand new handle. Within a year that one had cracked in exactly the same place. I shave on average every other day. I don't use it wet. It is a design flaw. Other than that, it provides an adequate shave. I have been using Norelco rotary shavers for 40 years and they have always been extremely reliable and long-lasting. I have only owned 4 including the 1150X during that time. With the older models eventually the batteries needed replacement and when I dropped them and the plastic case broke, I just sent them in to an authorized dealer for repair. Easy. Even before the internet. I fully recommend Norelco shavers in general, just not this model due to the cracking of the case because it defeats the "wet shave" features. Rotary shavers in general are much easier on the skin and the heads are more durable. The screens on screen shavers (side-to-side motion of the cutters) are very prone to being dented and ruined (because they are necessarily so thin and thus delicate) and are expensive to replace.
Pros: generally reliable, get several shaves per charge, heads easy to clean and replace, rotary heads easier on skin
Cons: case cracks at the on/off switch
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The only thing I do not like about the product is the cleaning system. The commercial cleaning system, that ultimately gets the unit its cleanest, is far too expensive for most average consumers.
