1150X/40 is NOT for the traveling person

I am returning this razor. The charging stand is the reason. The stand takes up extra counter space or you need to find a place to store it when not in use. We travel a lot and this stand will just be a significant hassle.
Over all other than the charging stand I like the 1150X/40. Norelco should have made this with a plug in cord and throw the charging stand idea in the scrap heap.
I will probably replace it with an AT810/41 that has a plug in cord and not a charging stand.
Pros: nice razor
Cons: charging stand wastes space.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My old Norelco Rotary gave up the ghost; it was very old. This new unit, although not top of the line, takes care of my needs. Lightweight and easy to use. My old razor had the clippers built in and on this one you need to change heads; a little inconvenient, but not a deal killer. Popping off the cover to clean the heads took a little more time at first, but now seems much smoother. Seldom need to recharge; good battery life. Unit did not come with a travel case, so I had to purchase one after market; suggest Phillips add that to package.
Pros: good battery life, lighweight, heads smooth and tight on face
Cons: change heads to clip, no travel case included wiht package, cleaning heads difficult at first

Overall, a well-designed, comfortable to use, close-shaving razoe.

The Philips Norelco SensoTouch Electric razor 1150X with GyroFlex 2D is a well-designed shaving machine. It provides a close shave, charges quickly and has a very handy trimmer attachment.
The only real flaw I have experienced is the ease with which the shaving head will pop off the razor, especially with a wet or freshly washed face. An active mechanical lock to keep the heads from popping off should be a fairly simple design enhancement.
This is my third Norelco triple-head shaver in 40 years. They are built to last.
Pros: close shave, easy to maintain
Cons: shaving head pops off too easily while shaving

This product is not worth of its cost.

The shaver does not support wet shaving. If you wet your beard, the shaver head slips off it and does not shave at all.
The trimmer head provides you the worst experience.
The shaver does not go smooth on your face and in the end it leaves you with burning face.

Things have changed since I changed my shaver

I used a blade before purchasing the electric. No more burn, bumps, or acne caused from a blade. This electric razor is great except that the heads don't last a full year and they are too expensive. I wish there were sales or coupons to help with the price of the heads, but otherwise, this electric razor has been great. I can use it wet or dry which makes it very convenient.
Pros: easy to use, no burn or razor bumps, add a pro
Cons: price of heads

I bought the Philips Norelco Shaver 6100 (formerly called SensoTouch 2D model: 1150x/40) back in December 2013. This wet/dry rechargable electric shaver is still going strong and is only now needing its first replacement head.
About Me:
- 30 yr old male
- shaves 1x to 2x a week
- cleans device after every use.
- charges device after every use.
Pros: smooth shave, close shave, light weight, easy grip, easy to understand instruction book, easy to locate replacement parts, affordable replacement part prices
Cons: recharge cord is awkwardly placed, never notified to replace parts.
I would recommend this to a friend!

After almost seven months of using my razor, I've not had a close shave yet. I need to use the razor on some days twice and still no close shave. I've never used it wet, but dry I do not get a smooth shave.

Hello,
We are sorry to hear that you’ve had a disappointing experience with our Philips Dry electric shaver.
You may adapt the below given steps for best shaving technique and get good results.

• Move the shaving heads over the skin, making both straight and circular movements.

• Your skin may need 2-3 weeks to get accustomed to this Philips system.

• To prevent damage, put the protection cap on the shaver after use.

Your first shaves may not give you the result you expect and your skin may even become slightly irritated. This is not uncommon since your skin and beard need time to adapt to any new shaving system.
It is recommended to take into account an adaptation period of 3 weeks, during which you should shave regularly (at least 3 times per week) to allow your hair and skin to adapt to the new shaver.

During this period, use your new electric shaver exclusively and do not alternate shaving methods; alternating shaving methods makes it more difficult to adapt to the new shaving system.
If the problem still persists we would request you to contact our Consumer Care team by accessing the below link: http://bit.ly/15XDwUH .Thanks.

Best rotary razor I have ever bought!! Excellent!

I don't know what the other raters are saying! Excellent razor! Head cover is very strong. Great shave with shave gel! If you're getting a poor shave it's cause you're pressing TOO hard!! Lighten up and let it do it's thing. LOVE the LI-ion battery!! Woo hoo! No more NiCad Batts. I would change the overall strength of the outer shell or case as it's a little flimsy. If you've ever had a Remington razor, you'll see a junky head cover. They break immediately!! This razor is great but later I'll upgrade to a model where each of the 3 razor heads flip open separately when you wash them. Thanks, and keep up the good work Philips - Norelco!!
