I just replaced the blades for the second time in three years. Noticed right away that the shaver was pulling hair out versus cutting. Checked to make sure I got the right replacement blades and I did. Why the change? Going back to a razor and gel because this is too uncomfortable. Do Not Buy!!

Hi there. Thanks for taking the time and writing this review. We are sorry to hear that the shaver heads feel uncomfortable while using it, and understand this is disappointing. In your case, we recommend cleaning the heads with the cleaning spray (HQ110/02) regularly to guarantee the best performance. Also, allow a few days for your skin to get used to the shaver heads. If you have any further questions, please feel free to get in touch via social media. We’re available 24/7 on Facebook (@Philips) and Twitter (@PhilipsCare). Alternatively, you can reach out to us via the contact page on our website. One of our colleagues will then try their best to help you further.
Kind regards,

Takes longer to shave less well than previous Norelco shaver

Bought this shaver to replace my 10+ year old Norelco that worked fine except the batteries wouldn't hold a charge. The new one wasn't doing that great a job but I didn't really notice until I took a trip and switched back to my old shaver. The new one does not shave as well as the old one and takes 2-3 times as long. At that point I read the instruction booklet and followed the instructions exactly including the 3-week exclusive period just to make sure. No improvement. Unfortunately, by then I was well past the guarantee period. I just wish my old shaver worked. It is hard to believe that shaving technology has taken a step backwards!
Pros: holds charge well
Cons: poor shave, requires repeated passes -> long shave time

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that our Philips Norelco trimmer and shaver is not meeting your expectations. It takes approximately 1 hour for the shaver to charge fully. We would recommend you to charge the shaver fully and then use it on your beard. However, if the troubleshooting step does not help, we suggest you to contact the Consumer Care team for further help. Please find below the link for the same: http://www.support.philips.com/support/contact/contact_page.jsp?userLanguage=en&userCountry=us

Great razor, Good performance

I have used gillette fusion powerglide for months and the cost just seemed a bit much for how much I have to shave. Bought this razor with a bit of fear since many years back I had a bad experience with electric razor causing my skin to burn and many cuts along with ingrown hairs. So far I must say this product did not have too bad of irritation just a bit but maybe it takes time for the neck to get use to this again. Did not have much razor burns especially since you can use gel or foam to help out. As far as close shaving I would say its okay but not better. Still a few areas that I had to shave manually but if that's all I would have to do than that one blade would last me months and this is a good buy.
Pros: less irritation, easy to use, great product for the price
Cons: still does not shave closely in some areas, a couple cuts in the beginning
Philips Norelco has always made the best electric razors in the world. This model is an exceptionally great bargain: the highest performance for the lowest cost. Don't even bother looking at other brands. Just do your self a favor and buy Norelco!
Pros: cordless, lightweight, closest shave, comfortable, ergonomic - fits hand perfectly, best value received for price paid, fabulous engineering
I bought this electric razor for my husband who had a stroke and the doctor told him not to use his traditional razor. He was unhappy with the product because it just did not clean up his face like he wanted it to. He quit using the Norelco razor and went back to using his traditional razor. So far he has not cut himself.
Cons: does not shave the whiskers close to the skin.

Hello,
We’re sorry for the disappointment you had using our Philips Norelco electric shaver.
You may adapt the below given steps for best shaving technique and get good results.
• Move the shaving heads over the skin, making both straight and circular movements.
• Your skin may need 2-3 weeks to get accustomed to this Philips system.
• To prevent damage, put the protection cap on the shaver after use.
Your first shaves may not give you the result you expect and your skin may even become slightly irritated. This is not uncommon since your skin and beard need time to adapt to any new shaving system.
It is recommended to take into account an adaptation period of 3 weeks, during which you should shave regularly (at least 3 times per week) to allow your hair and skin to adapt to the new shaver.
During this period, use your new electric shaver exclusively and do not alternate shaving methods; alternating shaving methods makes it more difficult to adapt to the new shaving system.
If the problem still persists, please reach out to Philips Consumer Care on 1-800-243-3050.

This razor just glides around on your face and you are shaved before you know it. It's the first one that I can really say that is a very smooth shave. Keep it up Philips you finally have a very fine shaver.
Pros: great shave.

I've been using norelco electric razors since I started shaving 30 years ago...this unit doesn't shave worth a darn. I go over and over my face with and it still leaves patches of whiskers behind. Very disappointed in the brand now

This was sent to me as a replacement for a product I had bought that was defective. Product arrived super fast! I was told price wise this was the comparable product but it did not have all the features of the other one, however it has given me a close shave and seems to be on par with other norelco products I have purchased!
Pros: holds a good charge, close shave, easy to operate
