does not work well.

I have used older model norelco triple head razors in the past so when I decided to shave off my beard I decided that I would try an electric shaver again. For 6 months after I shaved off my beard I used a razor and cream. When I bought this unit I shaved with it for 3 weeks as suggested and it pulled and aggravated my skin. I used it for another week and changed the blades. This did not help. Tried wet, dry, and with shaving cream. still hurt . Blades turn to slow and seems to be part of the problem. Not worth it.
Cons: under powered
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good alternative to razor shaving

I have a very heavy beard and have been shaving with a blade for about the past 10 years because I could not get a close enough shave with an electric.
Since I bought the aquatec about a month ago I have shaved with a blade just once. It holds a charge for at least 20 shaves, is easy to use and especially when used with shaving cream is very comfortable and smooth. The shaver takes just about one hour to go from empty to full charge and the charging procedure is very convenient. Cleaning is a breeze by just holding the shaving head both open and closed under running water. I find that a brush is not needed. I recommend it to get away from the hassle of blade shaving.
Cons: a bit uncomfortable shaving dry

Hello,

We’re sorry for the disappointment you had with our Philips Norelco electric razor.

Your first shaves may not give you the result you expect and your skin may even become slightly irritated. This is not uncommon since your skin and beard need time to adapt to any new shaving system.

It is recommended to take into account an adaptation period of 3 weeks, during which you should shave regularly (at least 3 times per week) to allow your hair and skin to adapt to the new shaver.

During this period, use your new electric shaver exclusively and do not alternate shaving methods; alternating shaving methods makes it more difficult to adapt to the new shaving system.

You may follow the below steps to use our product effectively:

1. First apply some water to your skin, then apply shaving foam or shaving gel.
Note: We advise you to follow the instructions on the foam or gel can to apply the foam or gel to get an optimal shaving result.

2. Rinse the shaving unit under the faucet to ensure that the shaving unit glides smoothly over your skin.

3. Press the on/off button to switch on the shaver. Move the shaving unit in circular movements over your skin.

Note: Rinse the shaver under the tap regularly to ensure that it continues to glide smoothly over your skin.

4. Clean your face with some water and dry your face.

5. Thoroughly clean the shaver after use.

Note: If you do not rinse the shaver under the faucet regularly while shaving with foam or gel, the foam or gel may become very thick and this may cause the shaver to switch off due to too much torque (a safety precaution). So don't forget to rinse your shaver under the faucet regularly.

If you still have an issue using our product, please reach out to our Consumer Care team on 1-800-243-3050.

Not a great product

My wife bought me one of these for my birthday in February and it has died after 5 months. It just ground to a halt despite being fully charged and after a couple of weeks it came to life again but now sounds like a concrete mixer. It has been my first electric razor so she went for a Philips thinking it would be quality. Far from it.
Am returning it today.
Pros: cannot think of one
Cons: the whole thing is a con

Close cut without causing Ingrown hairs
on September 6, 2014

I was searching for a electric razor to help prevent me from getting Ingrown hairs while still getting a close shave. Thus far this product has worked great for me. I have been in the military for 12 years and always had a problem shaving due to being African American and my facial hair is very curly. I've tried razor's, and hair clippers. For me this has worked the best. I am now able to get a close shave and I have not seen as many Ingrown hairs. As most Philips products the battery last long as well. I mainly use the razor with shaving gel as well. The product also comes at a great price.
Pros: close shave without causing ingrown hairs, color scheme, long battery life
Cons: no travel case, no charging stand

I have been using Norelco shavers HAPPILY for many years. This particular model is my favorite to date.
I have had many Norelco shavers over the years. After several years they do wear out OR a delightful new model comes available.
I will always stay with Norelco as my choice of shavers.

Battery performance
on July 13, 2014

The only negative about this razor is the battery, at full charge it works fantastic, the speed of the razor is noticeable, but as the charge goes down so does the speed of the motor and the quality of the cut goes down too. The negative is you can not shave with the unit plugged in you have to wait until it completely discharges then you have recharge for at least 3 minutes before you can continue shaving.

You can recharge your shaver after every shave. The battery in your shaver is a lithium-ion battery, which can be recharged every day. Unlike traditional batteries, this type of battery is not harmed by frequent recharging.

It's acceptable

It's very easy to use and gets the job done in the end. The drawback for me is it takes longer to get a complete shave than I believe it should. The motor doesn't seem to run at a high enough speed to really be as effective as I wanted. There is a lot of running the shaving head on your face in the same areas to shave the struggling hairs. This, in turn, causes irritation to my face. The instructions advise that your face will get used to this action, but I have not experienced this yet. The trimmer is fine for what it is meant for. You get what you pay for. If you're really looking to make an electric shaver your primary source, spend the extra money on a higher end model.
Pros: affordable
Cons: quality is lacking
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
