This razor is exactly what I wanted. It provides a great shave and is solidly built. I have had a model of a razor of this style since I first started shaving in 1976. I needed a new one and was afraid it might not be built to last as some things these days are. I was very happy to find that this razor is every bit as well built. The added convenience of Aqua Tech a wonderfull. It make the razor a snap to clean. Highly recommended.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First - the price was very reasonable. Battery life is exceptional. Also, the end result of shaving with this is great.

Not My Favorite; Poor Head Design

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This razor has never been a favorite because the odd heads with slots and holes don't give me a good shave. I like the ability to wash out the head between fully disassembling to clean. Like better cut from 20 year old Norelco with new batteries despite no longer being able to get the 'lift and cut' heads for it. Will keep this one running as part of my set because the newest fancy styles receive poor reviews and have very costly replacement heads.

My new Norelco is so much better than my old Norelco. My old one was nice but worn out.
This new one cuts much closer even like a strait razor and gives a smoother shave. It is easier to clean and does not seem to bind-up with moisture.
Pros: light, easy to handle, holds one charge a week plus/minus

Great shave; exceptional battery life

I decided to buy this shaver after dismal performance from 'another' well-known rotary shaver. Because I'm a boater, I particularly appreciate good battery life...being able to go quite a few days without 110v charging. I actually got 22 full days shave on the first charge, not only because of the powerful Lith-ion battery, but also because the shaver gets all the whiskers in a single pass...no need to keep going over the same area, like before. And when travelling, it's nice not to have to carry a charging stand. It's quick, quiet, and lightweight...and runs forever...and gives a great, close, comfortable shave. What's not to like?!?
Pros: great battery life close shave

After years of resecrh, I have found & happily confirm my shaving utopia...

The "TripleTrack" HQ9 blades and the option of Wet OR Dry shaving are what sets this shaver apart ... shaving effortlessly, smoothly, thoroughly and easily cutting in all directions in which facial hairs naturally grow. Shaving with this shaver takes no more time than manually shaving, and if you choose Wet shaving with Foam or Gel or Cream or Oil - I have tried all four !! - the comfort you get is unparalleled.
I have been shaving for well over 45 years. I have tried manual shavers - ranging from low to medium priced, and from straight/single blade to multiple-blade - as well as electric, plus I have tried several brands and types - rotary & reciprocating - each for extended periods of time - months, not days.
The AquaTouch I just bought is my 2nd Philips shaver that uses the "TripleTrack" blades, the first one - which I still have in perfect working condition, after several years - is not intended for Wet shaving. I love both shavers, but especially this Aquatouch for the option of Wet shaving and the feel that it gives & which I thoroughly enjoy.
I have now tried 5 different pre-shaving products to get a feel for their individual pros & cons comfort. I have tried pre-shave electric, foam, gel, cream and oil - although the two latter products are not recommended in the Philips User Guide, and they did gum the blades some, requiring an actual cleaning versus a quick & easy under-the-tap rinse that is sufficient for the pre-/foam/gel options.
In all cases, the shaver performed exquisitely. It did the job in about the same time I like to take to shave manually - I enjoy shaving, and take my time - and the shaver did a very thorough job, everywhere. When I say everywhere, I especially mean in neck area - being in my 60s, I have some "extra" skin :-0 in my neck area, as well as skin tags, both facts which require paying proper attention when shaving manually so as not to nick myself.
The shaver also did a great job all around the chin area, which is where I have experienced some nicks with manual blades as well as with reciprocating electric shavers, albeit it rarely with the latter - happened when I pushed against the skin too hard. Even when I have pushed too hard against the skin with the Philips shaver, my skin would not get nicked - I would just hear the shaver cutter blades "mildly grinding" against the combs, telling me "ease up" on the pressure, buddy...
The "Lift and Cut" technology Philips employs sounds a little like marketing hype...but it really works. When done shaving, my wife invariably makes a comment about how my face feels exactly like our grandkids' baby-butts... I think that is a complement? And, as far as the infamous "5 o'clock shadow" I must honestly state that at suppertime, my facial hairs are invisible and are - according to my wife - virtually identical to the touch whether I have used the Philips or manual shavers...
The AquaTouch is a comfortable shaver to hold & grip, neither awkward nor heavy/tiresome to use. The flexible head-suspension works well, and forms nicely to nooks and crannies as one moves around the face.
The finish is attractive/professional looking, and if this shaver is anything like the model I had previously - similar but without the Wet shave feature - the finish remains perfect-looking throughout its' life. I expect the longevity of this model will be similar to the previous one I was using, and which had zero need for repairs. The ONLY thing I did was change the HQ9 blades when the cutting quality fell off a bit - for my beard type, the blades did last a little longer than the recommended annual change interval. Of course I understand each person will experience a different durability just as is the case with manual blades.
The new shaver batteries seem to last about 60 minutes of shaving time, as stipulated by Philips. The previous model - I still have on hand - has batteries that last about 100 minutes on a charge, even with the original batteries and after years of use / charge cycles. This is not a significant feature difference as far as my needs go.
Bottom line: Philips makes fabulous electric shavers. If you want a top-performing shaver, make sure you get a model with TripleTrack blades and Lift and Cut technology, and with a flexible head to "mold itself" to your face as you move it around.
Not only do I heartily recommend their shaver, I would buy another in an instant, for myself or as a gift !!
Pros: exceptional shaving efficacy and comfort, very quiet operation, reliability/durablity of previously-owned shavers
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this razor expecting it to be better than my previous razors. I have owned several less expensive models back thru your plugin only models. I have owned probably 10 models in my life and this one is the first one I have been unsatisfied with. I would return it except it is too late. I did not get a close enough shave and will be going back to a previous model that I had been using. My next razor will most likely be a different manufacture. I hope you use this review positively and review the quality of this razor.
Pros: none
Cons: poor shave
