Have enjoyed using this fine machine. I liked the different settings for size, weight and time. Also the bleach and softener settings.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Perfectly working machine

I am pretty confused about the negative reviews, as my husband and I have had this machine for 5 1/2 years and never had any major issues with it. We do NOT use fabric softener, as a 2nd rinse uses even more water and energy, as does purchasing the softener in the first place. We like this machine, it's simple and effective. At first, it was just for my husband and I, so the smaller amounts of laundry were easy, but now we've added a baby boy to the mix and still use this machine with ease. Double check the cycles you're using, the products you're buying, and how much you're stuffing into the drum. I have a feeling these negative reviews are a lot of operator error issues.

Issues of poor cleaning and question for GE
on October 1, 2017

Has never cleaned well. Water saving feature makes it seem like there is not enough water in barrel to clean everything. Still works/spins though--don't remember when I bought it. My question for company is which direction to turn reset knob--clockwise or counterclockwise? Have never known and is not stated in manual. Seems like this would be an important direction--should have asked a long time ago I guess.

Sorry my WHRE5550K2WW washer is a bummer. I'm glad they discontinued this model! Itt did not make me very pleased and I shopped around for over 6 months before decided on this. one.
My nitegowns get stuck under the adjitator and I have to refill it with water to get the gown out of the machine. Had a service-call on this 2xs.

Poor design

This washer broke twice in four years. The first incident was that it stopped spinning after about 15 months in service. GE's customer service was good to replace the undersized motor free of charge. This last breakage is catastrophic and is not worth repairing. The motor is okay, but the housing under the agitator broke apart, sent large chunks of metal into the tub assembly which then shattered the tub assembly. We were fortunate that somebody was able to shut it down. There could have been a tremendous flood if it weren't for that and that the water must have drained out just prior. The repair will cost more than a new machine. How does that structure break apart? It may be bad quality, but I suspect it is a bad design. The result is the same. I will avoid GE in the future.

Never liked this machine

Bought this washer because it was energy efficient. Liked the capacity size and the metal tube. Now that it won't spin out and drain I'm going to replace it. Clothes are so tangled up that they have to be put through the dryer to unwrinkle. Forget air drying. Never been sure how much detergent to put in it.

Our clothes always have lint on them

It seems like every time we wash our clothes and hang dry them, they are covered in lint. I'm not convinced our clothes are even getting cleaned.
