We recently had a propane heating system installed and switched over to a propane gas stove

Disappointed in Grates

We have had GE Profile appliances and have always been happy with them. We wanted to replace an electric Profile with a gas cooktop. We are very disappointed to see that the porcelain coated cooking grates have scratched down to bare metal after our fist use of the cooktop. We used smooth bottomed pots and pans as advised but still have scratched grates. This is clearly a design flaw that GE should resolve. Otherwise the cooktop works fine.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Burner Rack Problems

Burners work well, and the stove surface is easily wiped clean. Note that the burner rack(s), the grey enameled reacks above the burners are exceptionally difficult to clean and keep clean. Have tried numerous cleansers and abbrasive pads with no luck. Any use results in black scoring and at least 10 to 15 minutes of heavy scrubbing to clean.

We've had this exact model for 11 years. We put all the removable accessories (knobs, grates, fan filter, etc) in the dishwasher (air dry) at least once a week. This cook top has been well worth the money. A possible drawback is when you want to use all four burners it gets very crowded and uneven heating when you use 4 large pots (8 qt pots) at the same time, but what can you expect? This is a 30" cook top! I also don't like the down draft, but this is what you get when you don't want an overhead vent so the down draft is what it is and would be with any down draft vent. Overall, this product does what it's supposed to and has done it well. It is frequently used for 11 years and continues. Good job GE.
