Experiencing trouble with this unit

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Have had this unit installed only 1 month and already the front left unit will not heat. Awaiting a certified repairman to repair unit. Jury is still out on my satisfaction with this unit.

Looks really sharp, is easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Cooks big oblong pots. The left burner gives an option to connect the left two burners to cook an oblong pot of stew or chile when company is due. It is easy to use and has safety features. I can lock the cooktop burners from being accidentally turned on by little ones around the house. I like GE Profile products.

The Good and Bad

Bought this after much research. Really wanted gas, but most reviews said that a gas downdraft cooktop doesn't work as well because the draft pulls the flame away from the pot. Previously had a GE electric cooktop with interchangeable parts and loved it. This cooktop is harder to keep looking new. I don't want to spend 15 minutes cleaning the cooktop to make it shine. After one month's use there is a slight shadow on one of the burners. It cooks great otherwise!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Pretty, but not practical for real use

I have had this cook top for 6 months and hate it more every day. Be aware that if you install this unit you may need to buy new cookware for even heating and to avoid scratches. It is impossible to keep it clean and smudge free. Every fingerprint, stray hair, and piece of lint shows. You cannot clean it writh soap and water. A simple overfow will likele require a razor blade to clean up. It is simply not practical in a real family kitchen. Read the manual before you make a purchase decision - there are a lot of rules and if not followed you will mar the finish.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Heats quickly, burner knobs in middle are great!

We purchased this cooktop to replace our Jenn Air, which after just 6 years popped a burner. Having the burner knobs in the middle of the cooktop vs on the lower bottom corners of the cooktop makes a big difference is the size of pots I am able to use for all the burners. The unit heats quickly & I like the full size cooking feature on the left side of the cooktop.

Terrible to clean

Well. it has been 2 month later since we bought the cook top. Sorry to say...it has been a nightmare to clean. It takes me at least 15 minutes to bring the shine back with constant rubbing. I use a electric frying pan, crock pot whatever else to avoid cooking on the cook top. Like I said before...the joy of cooking is gone.
