Difficult to keep clean

This cooktop is extremely difficult to keep clean. Everytime you use it, even for simple things like heating a can of soup, you have to clean the cooktop with a special cleaner. You have to wait until the cooktop cools down, which could be 20-30 minutes after you finish eating, to apply the cleaner. If you don't clean after each use, you have spots, streaks, and stains even though you may not have spilled anything while you were cooking. If you clean just around the burner you were using, there are streaks left by the cleaner, so you have to clean the entire surface to avoid leaving any streaks. Also, you must use the special cleaner to clean it well. If you wipe it off with a dish cloth or sponge and dry it with a towel it looks very streaky. There was no warning in the marketing materials that this product required so much cleaning.

Power Boil burner is very useful

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second GE downdraft cooktop. I replaced the first one when it was 13 years old. It still worked well but it was white and I wanted to change my appliance colors. My new cooktop works very well and I especially use the power boil burner to quickly heat liquids in my large soup pot or to heat oil in a large saute pan. I clean it with glass cook top cleaner and paper towels. Several people said it requires too much cleaning but I find that if I clean it often then it is easy to keep up with the spills. Remember to allow the burners to cool completely before cleaning.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Face it, there aren't many 30" cooktops out there with a downdraft, which is what we needed for our island. It heats up well, downdraft has multiple fan speeds, and when clean, is absolutely gorgeous. Problem is, it's tough to keep clean, but we knew that going in. We use ceramabrite and it works, it's just not a quick wipe and clean. The knobs are easy enough to take off and put on to make cleaning easier. The one thing I wish it had was 2 of the large burner sizes vs. just the one. We have to use the bridge when we need to have 2 dutch ovens going.
Price is a bit much for what it does, in my opinion, but I go back to my opening statement, there just aren't many choices.

Excellent performance over the years for a hungry family!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have had this cooktop for almost 8 years and we could not be more pleased with it. I use it heavily as a full-time mom and wife, who is chief cook for 3 growing boys and a hubby who loves to eat at home. The downdraft exhaust is powerful and easily pulls steam and cooking odors out of the house. The cooktop heats very quickly and I really like the dual 6"/9" burner, which is perfect for heating my large cast iron skillet. The glass has held up well over the years and still looks great. The design can't be beat either as it looks sharp in our countertop. This cooktop was worth every penny and I fully expect to get many more years of use out of it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've never had a cooktop before & am glad I finally have one. I really like the downdraft, and it seems to work well. I haven't had any problems in keeping it clean or it getting scratched up.

Functionally Excellent

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I designed my kitchen 20 years ago I included a downdraft cooktop in the island. When I needed a replacement recently there were few choices for a downdraft. Although I only installed this cooktop about a month ago, it really is superior in function and looks beautiful in my butcher block countertop. It does take extra effort to keep the glass looking nice and the control knobs are in a bad place to keep clean as well. You need to take them all off to clean around them to really keep the top looking clean. I would opt for the knobs on the side where they are less likely to get messy. The 3-speed downdraft fan works great although it was somewhat difficult to match up to the previous venting under the cabinet. I think this product is a little pricey but again, I had only 2-3 options for an electric downdraft. Overall, I am happy with it and hope it will last as long as the previous one.

all elements except one were all broken.

I think the heating elements are the weakest part of this range. Occasionally one element getting burned out would be normal, but not so many got burned out and they are not cheap to replace.
