Poor quality product.

I purchased this a month ago thinking I purchased a "top of the line" product, I was wrong. After just two week the glass top started cracking after it was heated up. We did not drop anything on the top, it cracks when heated for some reason.

Glass top cracked in 7 years with only moderate us

We really liked the cooktop with downdraft. It gave us the open look we wanted in the kitchen as well as a great cooking surface. We have been very careful with what pans and cleaning products we use. Sadly, the top has cracked on the right side and so now we have to replace it. Of course this after the 5 year warranty on the top.

Cloudy spots already!

We read all the warnings and followed all the recommendations but within a month of use we have a couple of cloudy spots in the glass that won't go away!
It's a huge effort to keep the stove top looking good - buffing out streaks, fingerprints & smudges is a continuous workout!

EASY TO BREAK GLASS

I only had this cooktop for six month and the glass is already broken. Now I have to go through the warranty process and we'll see how that goes, but you could imagine a Saturday night and your cooktop broken... and how long will it take to repair (and how much if the warranty doesn't cover it). So take that in consideration if you are going to buy this: IT'S A GLASS in the middle of your table

Unreliable and glass top is hard to clean.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We installed one that was defective (light indicating a burner was still hot stayed on all the time). We replaced it and within a year a burner went out.
Also, our old downdraft cooktop was easy to clean with some windex. This one always seems to look greasy. I havent found a product that cleans it easily.
I would not buy this product again. We have other GE Profile appliances that we are happy with, but this cooktop was a mistake.

This is a real pain!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is so hard to keep this cook top clean. You have to clean every little thing off before using the burner again.
Also, can't get some things to simmer. It gets too hot. Others say this is usually not a problem. I have to turn burner off and on to keep from scorching.
I would NEVER buy this again!!

Excellent cooktop and very easy to clean

I have owned this cooktop since October, 2005. It is slightly different, as it has no lock, but everything else is the same. It looks brand new to this day, with no marks, scratches, nor discoloration of any kind. I took one star off the performance rating as the exhaust fan is not quite as good as the old drop in cartridge type smooth top that this unit replaced when we completely remodeled the kitchen. Because of this, I remove the exhaust cover to increase it's performance. For cleaning, I use the Weiman cleaning cream, spread all around with a Cerama Bryte Cleaning Pad, then buff off with a clean paper towel. If there is a stubborn dirt spot, I cover it with a wet dish cloth soaked in very hot water and leave it there for ten of fifteen minutes then proceed with the cleaning cream. Rinse the Cleaning Pad with clean water and it can be reused dozens of times, and they are available at the big box "home stores" for a very reasonable price. I am very pleased with this unit, and have no reservations about recommending it to potential buyers. Just know that you do have to spend five minutes or so cleaning it after use, but it is worth this very small effort.

Too hard to clean!

We had this new cooktop installed last week. It's a beautiful cooktop with good features, but after we read the cleaning instructions we're hesitant to use it. To keep its sheen requires a LOT of work. If we understand correctly, after each use we let it cool down, then spread a few drops of the ceramic cleaner (requirng some hard rubbing). and wipe clean. We had a ceramic cooktop in another home that required a damp sponge cleaning to make it look like new. We are very disappointed in your product.
