works well but don't scrub the dial numbers!

I bought this at a good price because I generally trust GE products. Everything works fine but it's a little difficult to keep it clean. SO you have to use Ceramabryte to clean it up. Unfortunately when you use the little scrub pad with it around the dial numbers, it will take them completely off! That's disappointing because I now have missing numbers for a couple of my dials.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Easy to keep clean

We love that the cook top is easy to keep clean. We do wish the down draft was raised a little because if a pot boils over, the water will go into the down draft. Other than that, we love the cook top.

I feel very much flexability in cooking of all kind of cooking. The fan is so powerful which does not leave any steam at any time. The best of it's easy to clean and keep clean. I keep my trust in GE appliances and recomend my friend very much.

Would NOT recommend this product. First burners are way to small. Second its the hardest thing to keep clean. Even after 20 mins of cleaning it still looks awful.
You MUST use a special cleaner ok - but doesn't really clean it.
After less than one year all 4 burners got discolored and had GE technician come out and they implied I didn't know how to clean!!!!!! Nothing will take marks off. Its a default in the product!!!!!!!!!!!! Will never buy another GE Profile product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The black looks very high end - installed in a black granite island

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We loved our GE Profile 30" downdraft cooktop and wanted to update the look when we had new granite countertops installed. The black cooktop looks sleek and gives the island a nice finished appearance. The down draft blower design was different than the one we replaced so we had to use some creative installation for the piping ductwork. Also, the power cord was not included with the cooktop, so we had to purchase one separately, which is disappointing, considering the price we paid for the unit. Overall, it is the best cooktop we found when comparing to other electric cooktops.

You can cook a large roaster pot on this cook top

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This cooktop looks very impressive. The problem is that it shows every speck of dust and must be cleaned often. I got a crack in the top glass and the replacement cost is just as much as a whole unit.

Good while it lasted

We really like this cooktop, but the element on the large burner died shortly after the end of the 1-year warranty period. We looked into repairing it but found it prohibitively expensive, such that you almost are better off buying a new cooktop. I would have rated this 4 stars or 5 had it lasted longer.

Only used for a month. Love it. Just replaced the old one of 20 yrs (30' GE downdraft). Love the smooth surface, easy to clean, easy to use. Minor complaint: can be scratched easily. New one has minor changes compared to the old one. Need professionals to help install.
