Power Shot G10

I am a lighting designer. The G10 is very close to being the perfect camera for my work. The compact size fits into my camera bag in which I also carry my canon flash. The quality of the pictures that I can view on the job site with the 3 inch viewing screen makes my job that much easier. The G10 has a wide range of operating systems, that allows me to "tailor" the photos to my customer's needs. The high pixel count makes for excellent reproduction in photoshop.
I do not have to carry extra lens with me. The G10 has a 28mm wide angle that allows me to get more coverage.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have held off buying a high-end digital point-n-shoot until now. The G10 has features I wish my digital SLRs had. The dial settings for ISO, modes and exposure compensation were well thought out. The rear dial for changing the shutter or f-stop come in handy when in Av or Tv mode. But, what is really cool the LCD display when you change the shutter speed or f-stop.
The metering and color blow me away. I've yet to have an image turn out exposed wrong. Outdoors, the color always looks great.
I seldom use the built-in flash, and that said, if you don't use flash you are not going to see any sort of delay. In fact, I'd go so far to say that it has a feather trigger.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
Cons: expensive

G10 best yet

I own 3 digital SLR EOS bodies, and several Series L lenses, but I have to admit, the G10 is one of the best cameras I've ever owned. Let me start with the body. It feels solid, and the controls are nicely machined. It doesn't feel like a plastic toy. This feels like a serious photographer's camera.
I do wish it had an x-sync socket, and for the video mode, an external mic jack would be nifty too.
1600-3200 ISOs are too noisy, but 800 accetable. 400 and below are quite good.
It works well with the EX flash series.
It goes everywhere with me now.
I do wish Canon would lower the price. Make this a $400 camera. It is too closely priced to the bottom-of-the-line Rebel dSLR.
Also, include a lens hood and a wrist strap. The neck strap is nice, but for small cameras, a wrist strap is also nice.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, price

Love it, Love it, Love it!

This little guy has almost, but not quite, replaced my DSLR. Portability is the factor and the image quality cannot be touched by a point and shoot. Where I go it goes. Of course the fixed lense and glass can't compete with an SLR's but it comes pretty close. I would recommend it for any avid amateur wanting to go beyond the point an shoot crowd and get creative but who doesn't want the weight or expense of a DSLR sytem.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, good battery life, durable
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance

5 stars from a tough customer...

When it comes to cameras, I am a tough customer. I expect results in an easy to use package. The G10 does not disappoint. Strengths of the G10 are flexibility and ease of use. My most amazing moment was in the antiquities museum in Alexandria, Egypt. The light was very low and flash photography was not allowed. I used the ISO 3200 setting and got amazing results. The people with the big (heavy) cameras were incredulous and could not duplicate my beautiful pictures. Isn't it nice when you actually buy the right thing!!!
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable

i have MS and had to give up photography as a hobby. cameras were either too heavy or too small, also the buttons were too small on most models. the g10 has opened this world back up. the stabilization works very well and much faster than other brands i have looked at. the feature controls are easy to get to and operate. it also provides opportunities to experiment with images, light and color. what use to take a great deal of professional equipment now is available in a neat usable product the g10.
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, stablization/speed, easy access to features
Cons: poor manual

The G10 is an incredible feat of engineering. To pack so much power into a compact camera must have been quite a task. I'm so impressed with the image quality this camera produces. The on camera flash is stellar for a unit this size.
High ISO is a bit noisy, but what high ISO digital isn't?
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
Cons: lack of accessories for the usa market

My last Camera Powershot A70,bought when it just came out still works great.Had seen a friends G10 and amazed over the crisp clear pictures. With a upcomeing trip i purchased the G10... and never looked back.I found the camera fast to turn on,easy one hand contols, amazing video.Although some may find it larger and maybe bulky, the camera is amazing, and pays out in quality pics, and haveing got a new 50 inch plasma widescreen shooting in 16/9 is the full screen,A recent wedding in the large inlaws family showed using widescreen in front of the church steps i was able to get "it" all in,while other SLRs had to move more and some didn't even get the whole crowd in the picture.Although i bought a second battery (to take lots of pics) one battery does last a long time plus the indicator on the screen gives plenty of warning before i need to change it(with two i don't stop to charge all night).i'm talking video and stills,go with a big mem card it's a quality camera worth the investment. It has custom settings that are great,I set up (1)once for (NHL rink) lighting and zoom and focus, and it automatically turns on to those settings, and saves them ,and still have another (2nd)custom settings that goes to my settings when it turns on
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable, fast turn on, love the custom settings
