Best Compact Camera I have ever had

I got my G10 to replace my G9. I wanted a wider lens and got a while lot more. The photos this camera takes are extremly detailed and crisp. (at ISO 80) I love the internal ND filter ( as I did on my g9) but with the wider angle lens and IS I was able to go down to a 10th of a second hand held and get trains streaking across a sharp backgroung in bright sunlight. The portraits that this camera can take are amasing. Face detection works better than my G9 also, even recognises a side view. Icontrast also makes a big difference in some of the photos. I also love the face self timer function, now I can actually get into more photos of my family... wow, what a camera...I can't wait to use it again!
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
I would recommend this to a friend!

Happy I made the decision to buy this camera

I had several SLR film cameras in the past. I would consider myself a semi pro. I got away from photography and into Videography as a hobby. I switched to digital photography about ten years ago to document work related projects. I have never been happy with any of the digital camera I used for work. The only benefit was I didn’t have to send the film out to a lab to be developed. I would always compare the picture quality to my old film SLR cameras. A friend told me about The G10, I did my homework and I purchased one. Now my video camera is collecting dust and my work related photographs are sharp and clear.
Pros: Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, good battery life, durable

Still the One!

I purchased a G10 for a long summer trip to the Southwest U.S. to replace my heavy DSLR kit. The over 1,000 photos were all very good, and many were amazing. The 14.7 MP resolution must be seen to be believed. I have photo books with 22" spreads that look professional. People always ask what camera was used. It's that good. When I got back I tried to go back to the DSLR but the G10 has become my favorite. It's still the one! And it's now my only camera. The build quality, features and image quality in good light are its highest points. Yes, it's slower than even a basic DSLR, and the low light shots at high ISO are noisy. But shooting RAW and using Canon's DPP solves much of the problem for me. I highly recommend this camera especially for landscape and travel. The face recognition focus is also wonderful for weddings, parties, etc. There is so much good to say about this camera that I can live with its few weaknesses. .
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance

Spectacular quality

I use a Canon 5D Mark II, with a bunch of L-Series lenses. I have been using a G-10 as my backup camera, carrying it on my belt. I have used it for quick shots, or for those embarrassing times when my batteries runs out or my CF cards fill up on the Mark II (RAW files will do that...). I have also taken some landscape shots with this camera out of laziness. The quality of the G10 is spectacular. If I didn't need to blow some of these shots way up, I would probably use the G10 as my primary camera, except in low-light situations. I have some shots of Mt. St. Helens and Death Valley that I have blown up to 20x30, and the results are phenomenal. I would HIGHLY recommend this camera, but get a FAST SD card, and carry an extra battery or two.
Pros: good battery life, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, easy to use

G10: The killer point-and-shoot
on May 1, 2009

The G10 far surpasses my expectations as the killer point-and-shoot. Yes, it's bulkier than the rest and yes, I'd like better low-light performance HD video and a longer telephoto, but with 28mm wide shots - you'll find you're gonna like this... a lot. I just purchased the new 270LX Canon Speedlight and paired it with the G10. It's a perfect match! Now I can get that extra light I need (even though many times I'd rather do without a flash altogether), and I even get bounce control. YES. The camera is as durable as they get and the shots below ISO400 are just incredible. Don't let this camera fool you. It takes better shots than my 20D although it can't match its speed or low-light performance. I'm looking forward to many years of shooting with this companion.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, good battery life, durable
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, Heavy/Bulky

This is absolutely the best...

This is absolutely the best camera I have ever owned. Our pictures look like postcards. The most amazing picture I have ever taken was "on the fly" - just point and shoot - but this camera made it the best ever. Between the camera and the computer, every picture is an "wow" moment.

Very impressed in all respects

Bought G10 based on need for new point and shoot. Image quality unsurpassed. G10 has ALL of the controls you would expect on the best DSLRs so there are no compromises. G10 is rugged and just feels great in your hands. The only issue I have is with the strap. It always seems to get twisted up and requires attention when preparing for a shot. Never owned a Canon before but this one makes me a believer.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable, best of breed
