G10 + 24mm Lens = Great Camera

Nice Camera! Prefer the G10 body over that of the G11 body. Don't really care for the swing out display. Also, I shoot outdoor photos and architecture. It would be nice to have a wider angle. A G10 body style, the current features, and a 24mm wide angle lens would make the deal!. I know there is a screw on wide angle adapter, but really. Build-in the 24mm wide angle, get rid of the swing out display, and keep all the other features. I'd say NICE!!
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: needs wider angle lens

The last camera needed

This is hands down the best camera out there. I own a Canon AE1 and have always wanted the quality photo that I got from that camera for years. This camera allows me to flip to the manual mode I am use to with the AE1 but also has the best top of the line digital capability.
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable

There is little doubt that the G10 is a great little camera - I will enjoy using it. However we should not allow the good points to bury the negative, even though there are lots of the good.
Why make a point of high ISO when above 400 noise is unacceptable?
Why not put in a little printed manual?
Fancy suppling a new camera without a memory card?
Would it be difficult to make the viewfinder a bit more accurate?
All these things would lift the inital impressions to a much higher level, after all we pay for it do we not?

Wonderful pictures

Love the picture quality, best I've ever seen - that's what it's all about. Great in sports mode for moving kids. I don't understand everything it can do, but I am liking everything so far, and like every new feature I learn. The battery is unique to this camera, a pet peeve of mine. You can't just replace it with something from the store; you have to buy an extra (expensive) proprietary battery pack. Also, battery seems to drain quickly with movie mode, which is not that great, but you CAN zoom. Versatile for many situations, great LCD.
Buy an 8GB SD card, no less that 2GB because of the big file sizes. Buy and keep an extra battery pack ready, and keep it charged.
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, durable, it can zoom in movie mode
Cons: Short battery life, special battery pack

Canon G10 review

I'm not sure how they could improve on the Canon G10. The image quality is great for a point-and-shoot and it has three features that make it an easy choice for a serious photographer: RAW files, a separate ISO dial as well as an Exposure Compensation dial on top of the camera. I use the EC dial a lot! It beats the pants off having to access the menu to do that.
I suppose they could improve on high ISO image quality....and maybe a higher dynamic range......and make it smaller......and give it away......Don't take my G10 from me!

Clear photos. Lots of capability for custom shooting. Scene modes also handy. Very solid product.

This is the finest digital camera I've ever purchased. It was a little pricey, but I am very satisfied with the exceptional quality of the features and pictures I am getting.
