EXCELLENT BACK-UP FOR THE EOS-1!!

I HAVE USED THE CANON BRAND FOR DECADES. FOR YOUR INFORMATION, I TRAVEL TO A LOT TO COUNTRIES THAT DO NOT LIKE THE SIGHT OF A D-SLR (IT LOOKS "TOO PROFESSIONAL"), SO I AM ABLE TO GET THE PROFESSIONAL IMAGES THAT I LONG FOR. I ESPECIALLY LIKE THE USE OF THE RAW FORMAT; THE QUALITY OF THE FINAL IMAGES RIVAL THOSE MADE BY HIGHER-END D-SLRs. I ALWAYS RECOMMEND THE CANON NAME TO MY PHOTOGRAPHER FRIENDS.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, durable
Cons: Short battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!

Missing Features
on February 16, 2009

I like what was added to the G10, but not satisfied with what was left off. Why was the video format changed, and no HD? Why was the time-lapse feature removed? Look on YouTube and you will see lots of time-lapse videos shot with the G9. I hope when the G11 is produced it will have everything Canon left off the G10.
Pros: Simple controls/menu, Bright LCD, durable
Cons: Missing features/settings

Great Point and Shoot
on January 9, 2009

Excellent camera, photo quality rivals canons lower end SLR's. Fast and Quiet but it has some bulk. I couldn't decide between the G10 and the SD880IS but I normally shoot with a 30D and couldn't live w/o manual shutter and aperture. The flash boot is also a nice touch. I bought this camera to fill in for my SLR when either I cant have a large camera with me or don't want to risk bringing it with me, so essentially you can call the G10 my beater. The new 461,000 pixel 3" LCD is what really sold me on it though, its spectacular and as for ease of use, if you use a Canon SLR this will feel right at home in your hands. Is does however suffer at high ISO speeds but come on its a point and shoot what can you expect, plus the viewfinder is still useless. If canon wanted to make the worlds perfect point and shoot, take the 880is size in a full metal housing, 3" LCD(no viewfinder), add RAW and a flash boot, 3x zoom and stop at 10mp to keep a decent fps speed
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, good battery life, durable
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, Heavy/Bulky

Great camera, Great photos

The camera is easy to use. Photos are the best i've found in a point & shoot camera. Video is excellent for youtube size videos. I use it when i cannot use my SLR as i am traveling extensively, sometime in dangerous places. It's a lot of fun to have such a light camera and get usable photographs.
I wish the camera had a swivel LCD. That's missing, but that I love the camera.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
Cons: no swivel lcd

Remarkable camera for the price

This feature-packed camera is a great buy, and perhaps the best compact non-slr camera you can buy. I did quite a bit of research before making my next Camera purchase, and was eager to see this model released. I am glad I waited.

I bought this camera to replace an older point and shoot and couldn't be more pleased. I love that Canon has included many advanced features with this camera previously availabe in the EOS systems but left the auto settings when needed.
I am pleased in every way.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, good battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!
