Built like a tank

This camera has a great "feel"---it seems very professional, very serious. It takes great photos of course, with the 15mp sensor. Hi-res LCD is great, although I wish it had a lip for protection.
The shutter button is too small, as is the zoom lever.
Pros: Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, good battery life, durable
Cons: Complicated controls/menu

Wonderful Camera

This camera is great. Very solid build. Beautiful photos. I love the red eye correction, I have 3 little boys with very blue eyes . I seen pro's get red eye when taking their pictures. The red eye is removed right off the camera leaving their true eye colors, not grayed out. This was given to my by my wonderful husband, it is a great camera.
Pros: Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, good battery life, durable, room to grow

Wish I had it before

I bought this camera for a trip to Europe. It is the first compact digital camera I ever bought and I wanted someting that was robust and had enough quality and features I would not regret leaving my DSLR home. And I did not. Not only this camera surprised me for its images, precision and easy of use, but it was also fun to use. I don't really think anyone decided to be a photographer (as a hobby or profession) cause they wanted to carry around lots of gear or cause they liked the headache of browsing through millions of controls and options (that's what irritates me the most about digital cameras), but most compacts have always been disappointing, and that's why I never thought of getting me one. I read some reviews and decided to give it a try. This camera has exactly what you need to take pictures. Nothing is missing and i'ts not cluttered with every single technological possibility to create images. Yes, high iso is a problem but a few years ago, in film era, no one ever thought of using anything higher than 400 iso unless it was absolutely necessary. And I try to compare any gear I buy to what I would be able to do if I used film. And I was able to do whatever I wanted. Nice and detailed landscapes, buildings, portraits, and at night, if your wife wants a picture in the lobby of the hotel, you have a pretty good built in flash. Oh, and the battery lasts forever! It remembered me the pleasure of carrying around my rangefinder when I was falling in love with photography.
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance

Great Travel Camera

Upgraded from Canon S80. This camera is great for frequent travel with additional features to grow with as use becomes more familar. The AUTO feature takes great pictures by itself and multiple features enhance experimentation and learning. The camera fits well inside my flightcase using a compact size pouch-style camera case. This camera remains convenient for travel while producing superior pictures of the family at home. Enjoy.
Pros: excellent image quality, durable

G10 For Camera Engineers not End Users
on September 11, 2009

This is a solid near Pro Point and Shoot of great Quality. My Gripe is that it has too many features. Most end users are not pros who need all the sophisticated adjustments. Remember it's mostly used by real life people who want quality but simplicity with a focus on the most often used controls programs which should be huge and right upfront with pictographs. I noticed Canon just came out with the G11 but dropped it to 10 Megapixels while adding a swingout LCD. Give some take some away. I'll stick with the 14.7 MP G10
Pros: easy to use, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, durable
Cons: Difficult to use, Complicated controls/menu, Missing features/settings

Good carry all around camera

I purchased this camera after having the G9 model for a few months before. This G10 shows good improvements on image quality and noise performance over the previous model. I enjoy very much the availability of the 28mm equivalent lens on this camera as in my opinion it makes the camera more versatile. I miss the time lapse recording on this camera. The addition of the exposure compensation dial is excellent as is the easy availability of the continuous AF etc. The case has better handling than the previous model and although larger than many other cameras from the competition this one feels fuller in your hands. The totally blacked out scheme works very well for this machine.
Battery performance has been good for me as I shoot raw and jpeg most of the time and make moderate use of the flash. The IS in this camera also seems to have been improved from the previous model, I shoot in TV mode in a good amount of situations and it responds well.
Overall a very good light camera that allows you to leave your heavier SLR for the most common trips and also allows you for serious shooting when the opportunity presents itself.
Pros: improved is, improved af, easy access to ec, good battery life
Cons: no time lapse, better but not quite there in noise performance

Love it!

This is my seventh Canon camera. I started ages ago with the old S-4.5, owning the entire series up to through the S-8, and then the G9. I just passed my G9 to my wife and bought the G10, and, like all of my other Canon cameras, it's perfect! I am a retired pro who also taught college photography for many years. The little Canons always had the features and the durability to handle any situation and provide highly usable images after the fact. I do mostly large format work now, but always have a Canon of one kind or another around my neck. Canon is just plain EXCELLENT! Professionally, I used a different brand SLR, but again, my Canon cameras always went along, and often some of my best shots were recorded with my Canon (especially my S-8 and G9). I can't imagine a more quality build. Now I'm waiting for the G-11!!
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable, very ergonomically designed
