Fax doesn't work,

The first time I needed to copy something from my computer it printed in both english and some foreign lanuage. I wasted about 50 sheets of paper. When I went to fax it, it wouldn't fax multiple sheets. I ended up faxing one sheet at a time from the glass. When I first got it installed, it checked out for all modes "ready to go". You can see why I'm upset.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Uses ink too fast!

the printer is great and has lost of easy to use options but it uses ink too fast. I have to buy a xl cartridge every 6 weeks and they are not cheap!

I love my new HP Officehet J4680. I was looking for a quality wireless printer at an affordable price and I found both with this printer. I love the fact that it's a wireless all-in-one printer and that I do not have to carry my laptop downstairs to my computer room to hook-up to my Officejet 5610v, which is not wireless. I hardly use my desktop and keep my laptop upstairs where I stay at most of the time when I'm home. The setup was easy after I had to reconfigure my home network due to issues of my WEP Key not being recognized by the printer device. But once I reset and reconfigured my home network, the printer recognized my WEP Key and connected to my wireless internet network with no problem. My wireless connection works great between my laptop and J4680. The fax function was easy to setup as well. The printer looks great and doesn't require too much space. And the printer came much faster than I thought it would via FedEx Ground. The site says to expect 5-7 days for standard shipping but the printer came in 2 days!!! I ordered it on a Wednesday and it was delivered to my front door that Friday. HP, love the product! This is my 3rd HP printer and I have yet to be dissatisfied with the quality of HP printers. All are still in full operation (my deskjet model was given to my fiance who keeps it at his mom's house for the computer he has there). Both of my officejets are here with us and we love them!

This is my 3rd HP printer. Unfortunately I've had issues with paper jams, scanning interruptions & having to scan docs over again, extremely slow scanning process and rollers crinkling edges of copies. I will continue to purchase HP products but I don't recommend this printer as the quality & performance has not met the standard of my previous printers.

I was really please with how easy it was to load drives and to get my desk top and my lap top printing. The wireless for my laptop was very easily accomplished. Printer prints very quickly and produces very good quality product.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Screen readable in direct light only.
Fast/draft printing not usable on many print jobs because of inconsistant print quality every 5th line or so. Have to go to highest quality, (most ink consumption), to get away from problem.
Fax usage worked.
Haven't used for photos and probably won't because of fear of waste.

HP J8640 Vista NOT!

The HP J4680 is a good quality All-In-One Printer. The included software loaded somewhat smoothly on my older dell 8200 notebooks running XP and all features work good. The software has many great features.
Pros: Easy to use software once installed. Printer has built in wireless or can be used on a USB Port. Many software features for scanning, printing and Fax. Good Value if bought on sale. Document feeder is a nice feature. Nice compact All-In-One.
Cons: Unable to get it to work on a Dell running Vista 64. (Won't recognize the printer or scanner or install the drivers.) Download from HP site didn't work either. Still T/Sing that one. Doc feeder slightly skews paper so scan isn't sttraight. Placing doc on platten works ok.
If you have Win 7, It is supposed to work and full featured software is available on the HP site. I may have to buy Win 7 to find out.
If you have this and are running Vista, please let me know how it works.
