Great to be back

Camera seems to be everything that advertisement listed. Very well made, rugged, and function is right on target. I showed 4 points for value bacause I'd like to have seen a little higher quality lens attached to the camera for a package. Not necessarily knocking the 28 x 135mm, but I would have paid some more for a bit more versatile lens like the 70 x 300mm. I'm just getting back into shooting after a long time out and going digital from a past of film and its staggering what is possible. I've done a lot of homework, but have a lot to do yet just to get a good start, but lovin every minute of it and Canon is loaded with good equipment to get rolling ! I look forward to wearing out some of their products !
Pros: great function, very well built
Cons: maybe later doubt it

Excellent in all respects from iso 100-3200. I'm not sure why some complain about it's low light performance. It will record a much brighter image than you see with your eye, with very low noise, what more could you ask for. I also owned a t1i, another excellent camera. But this sensor has less noise, not a big difference. but its not the same sensor as the T1i. Worth the extra money.
Pros: excellent image quality, great in low light, a joy to handle
Cons: may not be the best if you like a small body.

First digital - Very Satisfied

This was my first digital camera, and I have to say that I prefer it to the 7-D or even the 5D MkII (excepting their video capabilities that the 50D lacks). In my experience, the 50D produces comparably less shadow noise than either camera, and the RAW files are quite flexible beyond what I expected. That said, I have 2 complaints: fringe (magenta or cyan on almost every highlight edge) and a waffle noise pattern that's a bit unpredictable. (The 7-D has this problem as well.) Under normal lighting circumstances, the latter is quite rare and often doesn't print.
Pros: good battery life, Quick Start-up time, Superior build quality, Solid Operation, easy to use, good image quality
Cons: fringe, waffle noise pattern

Great Camera!

I've owned my 50D since Feb. 2010. It's my first digital SLR. I upgraded from a Canon 7e. I can't think of one con with this camera. It has consistently given me the best images that I've ever shot. I can't evaluate the fully automatic exposure modes on this camera because I don't use them. I've only used the AV, and Manual exposure modes. All of my exposures are made in RAW, and processed in Adobe Photoshop LR2. As long as I do my part this camera has exceeded my every expectation. This is a solidly built camera, and exudes a sense of quality. I also fitted this camera with the Canon BG-E2N battery grip. Since it holds two batteries battery life has never been a problem for me. I can shoot hundreds of images on one charge. I've never used the on camera flash. Instead I've pressed the Canon Speedlite 420EX that I purchased with my Canon EOS 7e into service with excellent results. I couldn't be more satisfied. Good job Canon!
Pros: excellent image quality and features., quality rugged build., excellent battery life., large bright sharp lcd., it is simple to use and very quiet.
Cons: the on camera flash is a waste of resources.

50D from xti...decent upgrade.

Moving up from an xti was a decent upgrade (faster FPS, higher ISO, more MP, larger/better LCD, much better feel in my hands). I really like the additional function wheel on the back as well as the display of the most used features (ISO, Focus Points, Exp Comp, etc). Quickly can glance and see major settings without looking at the top LCD as much. The responsiveness is very nice on the 50D as well. The xti was good, but this is so quick (focus, shoot, startup, etc).
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation
Cons: short battery life w/liveview

Best alternative to the full-frame sensor cameras of Canon. This is a rugged and versatile camera for both advanced amateur and professional use. One tip: if you think you might one day get a full-frame Canon, but only EF lenses, not EF-S, and for best quality, get L series lenses.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, good battery life

Exactly what I needed

Needed a DSLR to up our image quality for our marketing and website and brochures and everything you take a picture for. After much research this camera gave us the huge leap we wanted without breaking the bank. So impressed with it we will probably buy the 1Ds down the road so we have two Canon EOS cameras. Live View feature really helps us when we need a quieter shutter click during concerts and performances. I wish the regular shutter could be quieter somehow. Love the fast fps. I'm trying to think of things I don't like about this camera, but there are too many good things that make the bad insignificant. Learning how to use the camera is a snap, it's operations and menus are very intuitive. I'm not new to the world of photography, but this is my first DSLR, and I don't know how I took pictures before without it.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: noisy

AWESOME!

I love this camera! This is my 1st DSLR and am amazed at the quality of the photos I now take. I've taken photos that make me look like a pro, & I'm a novice with DSLR. I have never enjoyed photography like I do now. I have big hands so it's nice to hold a camera that fits my hands. The controls are layed out well & has all the features I could possibly need. It's much easier to use than one would think looking at the manual & all of it's features, but Canon put it together in such a way that simplifies it in a way that makes sense instead of confuse like other makers do. I can concentrate on taking pictures & don't have to worry about complicated controls.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, good battery life
