This is a great camera, with a great instruction booklet. I had fun just learning functions. As easy to use as you could want or as complicated to use as you want to make it. Either way takes a great picture. A definite keeper!!!
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, good battery life

I just upgraded to the 50D from my first DSLR an XTi. I kept my XTi for a backup still pleased with the quality and performance. But wow the 50D is so nice to use. The interface has been updated so it's easy to navigate. 6.3 fps is awesome for sports and kids you know how they move around. Live view updates are great to. Have a friend with a 40D and has commented how much easier Live view is now. Also the LCD resolution is great big clear and bright. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a new DSLR.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life

AS I am a Canon user from way back I am not surprised that the 50D is a great camera. This is not my first digital-as that was the 1D (first edition) and 5 pixels-so the 50 D increase in pixels is great- The auto sensor cleaing is a Godsend-that was one of the most difficult things about the 1D. Also like the light weight of the 50D and as any one who has had the 1D knows it weighed a TON. Great going Canon!!!!
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, its a canon

They keep getting better

I have a 5D, a 20D, a 30D, and now, happily, a 50D. They keep getting better. Menus are getting easier to use and the 3200 ISO works like a charm. I shot a band last night in fairly low light and got excellent results without flash. I shoot a lot of drag racing with my 70-200 f2.8 IS lens and am getting superb results. The shutter is a tad noisy, but not any noisier than the 20D or 30D. My 5D is quieter, but it should be. My biggest attaboy is because my battery grip still fits, unlike some other brands.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, battery grip still fits
Cons: noisy

EOS 50D

We bought this camera to replace an SLR film camera (EOS ELAN 7E) and augment a digital point-and-shoot. Because of the operating similarities between Canon SLRs, using it was very easy. Picture quality is great!!! Just make sure you have plenty of room to store them in the camera and on your computer. It is noticeably larger and heavier than our other digital camera (point-and-shoot), but that was expected.
Pros: excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Solid Operation, easy to use, good battery life
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

Outstanding Performance

I recently purchased a Canon 50D kit with 28-200mm Lens. I was amazed at the low light performance and the versatility of the 28-200mm lens that is designed for this application. With a single lens and this camera I was able to travel through Europe and capture images that were published on Photography Websites. Canon has delivered again. I hope the 60D will have video capture and GPS as well.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, low ligh performance
Cons: needs hd video clips, needs gps capture

WOW what a camera

After owning an XTi and doing some research this camera gave me a huge improvement in quality and functionality The live view feature really helps when in a crowd and don't have the ability to look through the view finder. I especially love the fast fps. So far I have been unable to find things I don't like about this camera. Learning how to use the camera is a snap after using the XTi for the past couple of years. It's operations and menus are very intuitive. Photos in the gym of my son playing basketball are outta this world. Thanks Canon once again for a fine product.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, quiet, easy to use, good battery life

Long time user of another brand, I shifted to the 5D with some trepidation. However, my fears were unfounded. In simple terms, I am extremely pleased with the camera. The 35mm size sensor makes a huge difference, and is one of the salient features of the 5D, in my opinion.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life
