REALLY GREAT CAMERA

I think this camera has a whole bunch of features,very good performance. kind of pricy, and its quality is really great.
Pros: Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use

Excellent in Everyway

Im only a beginner in photography and have not taken any classes on it. I purchased this camera only a few days ago and im already in love with it. The 28-135 standard lens is excellent. Im in love with every feature on this camera. I dont think i would trade it for anything else other than an upgrade with Canon. Its deffinatly worth its weight in gold.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, good battery life
Cons: Complicated controls/menu, noisy, Heavy/Bulky

I had grown up using my fathers other brand of cameras. I was lured in by advertising to Canon and decided to get a 50D. Wrong move. The brand my father was using has better features and takes comparable pictures. Just yesterday we both purchased battery grips for our cameras... his goes above and beyond anything the canon gives. The 50D just doesn't have the custom features, the fine tuning and control that I've been used to with the other brand.
Pros: Superior build quality
Cons: Missing features/settings, Short battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not too happy....

I bought the Canon 50D (my first DSLR-REC) Really Expensive Camera. I have had trouble with it 3 times before or during shoots that I really looked forward to. I am a pretty disappointed with the camera.

Can't Disable Flash in Auto Mode

The 50D is a poor choice for those who want to be able to use Auto Mode but turn the flash off. There's no way to do this. The Instruction Manual is no help. Canon has made the classic mistake of writing a Manual that, rather than taking the approach of "How do I....?" goes through the camera features in gory detail.
Cons: Difficult to use, can't disable flash in auto mode

An elite of its own for a prosumer camera

Canon has took an excellent leap forward with the 7D. I was going to purchase the 50D, now I'm glad I waited. I really enjoy the all the updated features, expecially photographing action sports. You'll have more control in how your images will look.
The only downside is the body and single CF slot.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Simple controls/menu
Cons: Heavy/Bulky
