COOL CAMERA

LOVE THIS CAMERA! While it takes a bit of time to learn where all the features are it is worth it. If you are a experienced photographer..you may not always get all the "computer control" and visa versa if you are a computer person..learning the camera technology and throw you a bit. Everyone is going to have to learn! Bit has enough quality to cover just about everyone and is still simple enough to use to get started and do some pretty amazing pictures. The pictures I have already taken are amazing.
I only with one could use the LCD Live Mode screen with all create modes in a preview capacity.
Cons: Short battery life, lcd display can not be used as a preview all modes
I would recommend this to a friend!

Worst Purchase Ever
on June 14, 2009

This would be the 4th DSLR i bought in 3 years. I received my camera 3 weeks ago. After about 25 shots the LCD screen starting flipping out. I called customer service and they said to call the company/seller about exchanging it. Ok that was reasonable. So i called them and i had them return my money. I bought a second 50D from local electronic store and it worked fine. The problem is that this is the noisiest camera i have ever owned. Previous camera Canon Digital Rebel XT, Canon 40D and a competitor. I compared images from the 4 cameras at same iso, exposure, focal lengths and aperture. I found that by ISO 400 i had lost so much detail that i tried different settings and adjusting noise reduction being applied. The images were not much better after adjustments. I will be returning this camera tomorrow.

Fail

Well, I was forced to pick up this camera after the shutter on my 40D broke after not even a full year of use. I had a week before I was heading out into the mountains for an assignment so I quickly picked up the 50D. Never felt like an upgrade from the 40D, and two months later the pop-up flash broke. Although it takes great shots in well lit situations, it shoots poorly in darker ones. I shoot a lot of action sports during the night and even with a 1.8 lens this thing still shoots terrible. The AF in darker settings isn't that great. This camera convinced me to switch brands... goodbye Canon.

Disappointing Performance...

I like all of the features of my Canon 50D - except images are fuzzy and blurred with poor depth of field. If the images were sharp, I'd give this camera a good rating. But, images are poor - washed out, fuzzy, poor focus. Nice features - but terrible images. My D60 delivers better performance.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Poor image quality
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My favourite camera - 20d, but it is not enough pixels for photos of the big size. So waited 50d... but, it is disappointed me. Certainly, colours in 50d not such "small" and "original" as in 450d, but in comparison with 20d and 40d, 50d on colour it is a little bit similar on 450d. About noise and high ISO - miracles do not happen...
Pros: Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use
Cons: Short battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
