Best SLR owned to date

I have found that the 50D far exceeds the 40D and the
40D walked all over the D200 in ease of operation. Overall, for the bucks the 50D is number One. Being a long time Canon user 20D, 30D, 40, and since it came out, the 50D, I have no problems with the menu and controls. The battery life is good, all auto modes work exceptionally well, with one (1) exception -- you have NO control over ISO settings, they are automatic. There are times that I would like to maintain a 100 or a 200 ISO setting in the AUTO modes, but the 50D denies me that ability - So even if might otherwise utilize an auto mode, I am forced to select AV, TV, etc. Other than that I consider it a supurb SLR., you can't go wrong with it.

Great camera for general use

I like the 50D for most of my photography. It's light, easy to use, and takes excellent photographs. For the setting I primarily use they are clear and concise, easy to set, and quick to find. This is a fairly inexpensive way to get a solid camera. Where I find this camera falls down is in the speed with which it an take multiple (burst rate) photos. I found it too slow for fast action captures (many sports with fast moving people, birds, etc.) For this would recommend a higher end camera like the 5D Mark III.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu
Cons: too slow for action sports (multi-frame shooting)

Canon 50d

I believe that the 50D is a real step up for many reasons. It offers high resolution but for a medium ranged price.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Quick Start-up time, easy to use, good battery life
Cons: noisy

Very Versatile..excells in all situations

I feel like the D50 is an exceptional all around camera, weither on the sports field, in the parks,in the studio..or just hanging with the family. I would like to see a little more versatility in some of the pre-set modes...sometimes someone a little more of an amature than I am,being an amature myself, uses the camera. But, all in all the camera operates flawlessly, and as advertized. A very good link between the advanced novice,to the semi-pro and to the begining pro. Kudo's to CANON!!!

I'm using this product for more than a year and i totally love it.
good performance, it have all of the needed features i bought also a battery grip for it and it works perfect.
also have canon flash and sync cord wich gives me more ways to create a perfect exposure.

I'm happy for my decision to buy 50D after comparing many DSLRS from Canon as well as others. It has a nice feeling, excellent performance, quick start up and comes with easy-to use DPP software.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD
